Specter Posted March 31, 2023 Posted March 31, 2023 (edited) So, after the success of the show the game was rushed and slated to release on 28th March, 2023, for the PC. And well...it has been a MESS. Some of the lashings The Last of Us on PC is a rare disappointing PlayStation port at launch [The Verge] The Last of Us is the latest PC port to bomb, and players are beyond fed up [Polygon] Warning: Avoid The Extremely Bad ‘The Last Of Us’ PC Port For Now [Forbes ] The Last Of Us Part 1 PC Port Glitch Includes Characters Being Wet For No Reason [GameSpot] The Last Of Us PC Port Has Us In Tears…Over Its Amazing Glitches [Kotaku] Some of the already infamous memes, up there with the AC: Unity head meme: -Low quality Joel: -Characters having a sweaty meltdown in-game for no reason (THIS SENDS ME): -Ellie having...something: -Christmas Lights everywhere: ND has responded to the backlash and is releasing patches: It should also be noted that this marks another of Sony's major ports, but with mixed results: Bad/Awful ports (at Launch): Horizon Zero Dawn, Uncharted, Returnal, and now TLOU. Good ports: Days Gone, God of War, Spiderman and Spiderman: Miles Morales. The game is still a mess, and incredibly poorly optimized. Like, hilariously so - a friend has been playing on 1080p medium and it's consuming....11.7 GBB VRAM? Edited March 31, 2023 by Phantom
Wrecked Posted March 31, 2023 Posted March 31, 2023 This is why it should have stayed as a PlayStation exclusive. PC players don’t deserve TLOU or Uncharted.

Are you one of those, really? It's 2023. Console warring is a relic of the past, for most. Exclusives are anti-consumer, and this applies for all platforms. Don't be a ND fanboi.

PC players are always such snobs towards console players but secretly wish they could play games like Uncharted and The Last of Us. They should have been left to seethe for eternity!
M!X Posted March 31, 2023 Posted March 31, 2023 (edited) mess, it's really sad because fans of the TV show who wanted to get into games will probably be turned off now on the other hand, most gamers who are into video games already played it so it's not like this will influence the game's reputation that much Naughty Dog got greedy, they could have just released the ps4 version for PC and people would not mind it at all, they really should have just used the resources to finally release TLOU2 multiplayer faster or just work on part III Edited March 31, 2023 by M!X

They had to revise the PC specs initially and even then it's currently shredding most machines (for no reason, to boot). Edited March 31, 2023 by Phantom

#Beautiful Posted March 31, 2023 Posted March 31, 2023 console exclusives shouldnt ever exist either as dlc or full games but this botched release...
elevate Posted March 31, 2023 Posted March 31, 2023 lmao. Pokemon level buggy. It's interesting, because Sony releases have generally been fantastic for PC, so this is a rare misstep for them. That said, what PC game HAS been playable in the last year? Hogwarts Legacy is atrocious but transphobic gamers defended it just to "stick it to the libs", Wild Hearts doesn't run properly, Returnal had many issues... even Elden Ring had a lot of issues on release. I guess Sony forced a quick release after the show's debut but they definitely should have waited. I don't know why this is happening, but I do know Zelda is going to remind people of real gaming in May.

Your second paragraph speaks to an (unfortunately) all-too-common phenomenon now, which is PC getting the shaft by AAA releases -> being fixed years later. This has sadly been the case for YEARS now, and I've personally witnessed this over the multiple decades of PC gaming myself. dfgh I totally forgot Returnal was a mess on launch too. Also reminds me: conversely, a mid af exclusive - Days Gone - was excellently optimized. As someone who loves/d the Horizon franchise, that on PC launch was

Capcom games like Resident Evil 4 that just got released are always nicely optimized and the PC always has a variety of graphic settings to tailor to your machine... developers just can't keep up with studio demands and release dates. If publishers are not giving PC developers enough manpower and the game is unplayable at launch it's bad for players. PC should always be top priority because these machines will forever archive these games whereas consoles have an expiration date and PCs are ever evolving
magazine Posted March 31, 2023 Posted March 31, 2023 Terrible, but not surprised. If this was any other company, they would've been dragged
