GraceRandolph Posted March 28, 2023 Posted March 28, 2023 A small scale Canadian animal-killing facility is in hot water after activist group Animal Justice unveiled shocking footage from 2022 featuring workers beating animals with canes and cattle prods. Disturbingly, some animals attempted to flee their inevitable deaths unsuccessfully. This company has previously tried to set itself apart from other slaughterhouses by adopting labels like ‘humane’ and ‘ethical’ to assuage animal rights concerns. Footage of improperly stunned animals having their throats slit, a violation of Canadian law, can also be seen. Some animals were unable to walk or stand, implying a lack of medical care, and concerns of zoonotic diseases. This is one of many complaints being leveled at Jeff and Kenneth Kooyman of Meadow Valley Meats who have previously been accused of animal abuse through footage recorded by animal activist groups in 2014. The Kooyman’s previously stated they would never let animal beatings happen again at Meadow Valley Meats. https://beta.ctvnews.ca/national/canada/2023/2/22/1_6285404.amp.html
Ab1818 Posted March 28, 2023 Posted March 28, 2023 No such thing as “ethical or humane slaughtering”. Not surprising. Very sad.

AMIT Posted March 28, 2023 Posted March 28, 2023 there's basically nothing ethical about Capitalism as a whole so
Mr. Mendes Posted March 28, 2023 Posted March 28, 2023 Shocking to whom? Any slaughterhouse that claims they're an ethical one has clearly got something to hide. No slaughterhouse that's doing anything remotely close to the realm of ethical would draw attention to themselves. It's a nasty nasty barely regulated business that operates in the shadows for a reason.

Meanwhile it’s so true that killing in general isn’t human, but there are still differences out there in the methods killing between some quick and less harmful ones and others when you wonder if those f****** monsters are human beings or robots but karma is real, either way carnivores are responsible for that too, no matter how harmful or less harmful the killing method is.
Jude Posted March 30, 2023 Posted March 30, 2023 Animal cruelty is a no no but I will never stop eating meat.
