And US evangelicals are very anti LGBTQ as shown by their push with anti LGBTQ laws. 7 hours ago, ninasayers said: Most hatred comes from a place of disgust. They feel disgusted when they think of us because they've been taught to; anything that differs from the norm is wrong, scary, and gross. The idea of being lgbt feels "wrong" to them, 'cause it goes against everything that they've always deemed as ideal and healthy. This is a total oversimplification but yeah, disgust is what usually leads to hatred. The hate comes from religion, literally. It's not that deep otherwise. Hate is learned behavior. Their white supremacist and Christian fundamentalist views ruined theses countries’ native cultures that used to be more open minded and progressive compared to Europe at the time. But its been 60 years since Ugandan independence. There's been so much time to get rid of the colonial laws, but no. And same for every other country with such laws. You have to hold these people accountable for what they are doing right now.

Children as young as 9 in Uganda already have a history of being abducted and forced to commit heinous acts against their fellow people. They’ve been faced with constant genocide for decades, yet through all of it homosexuality is still looked at the sin of all sins. What a hopeless place. My heart goes out to the LGBT groups that deserve to be free of such a bigoted and violent environment. Yeah. I think the link between poverty and conservativism should be talked about more. It's so easy to scapegoat LGBTQ+ people for all the troubles. And you see it in Eastern Europe too.

truthteller Posted March 24, 2023 Posted March 24, 2023 can these s**** people leave LGBTQ+ people alone
Theshigo Washidu Posted March 24, 2023 Posted March 24, 2023 There are far more pressing issues in need of sorting out in Uganda and other parts of Africa yet this is what's focused on? Corruption, obsession with religion and too much interference from western countries are only a few reasons as to why Africa can't move forward.

Ugandans have agency and make their own choices. In this case, the political class in Uganda has chosen to be virulently homophobic, far far more than its neighbours/peers in the region. They use hatred as a distraction for their massive set of failures across the board, and their rampant corruption. Easy to make people hate the gays - harder to lift them out of poverty. Influence from American Christian fundamentalism & colonial legacies can be acknowledged. But don't make the mistake of 'blaming' this kind of thing purely on outsiders. Uganda is making its own choices and any Ugandan will tell you that. Yes, the history is terrible but at a certain point after decades/centuries, people and governments have agency to make moral choices.

RunUpDoneUp Posted March 24, 2023 Posted March 24, 2023 (edited) LOL A country in literal ruin using christofascism to cudgel the population into thinking their lives are worth something because the reality that they won't do the work necessary to improve their country on their own is too earth-shattering to contend with. This type of idiocy may be helped by christian nationalists in america but the population has to consent to adopting it. Nothing short of an awakening will help these people. I hope the gays who can afford to leave do and the ones who can't, hide and save. Don't waste time on a lost nation, life is too short. Edited March 24, 2023 by RunUpDoneUp

HotHeaven Posted March 25, 2023 Posted March 25, 2023 I just stumbled upon this on Tiktok and all the comments are disgusting. This is why they will forever remain a flop country, with mindset like this who is also backed by religion. I will always say that religion is the root of all hatred in the world.

Caribbean Boy Posted March 27, 2023 Posted March 27, 2023 They can approve wtf they want, people are gonna do what they gonna do……so what’s their plan? So sit at people’s bedside? All this does is keep the community hidden which is what they really want
Raptus Posted March 27, 2023 Posted March 27, 2023 I saw comments on Shaderoom and...well, american gays should be worried
If U Seek Amy Posted March 27, 2023 Posted March 27, 2023 They can do whatever they want and think they did something. But seeing how they are a third world country with everyone suffering massively everyone with a brain watching these lawmakers is shaking their head as this is their focus. They're the real losers at the end of the day.

Bosque Posted March 28, 2023 Posted March 28, 2023 Not People blaming colonialism (which is obviously awful and had lots of terrible long term impacts) for this entirely new law passed by Uganda this year
brazil Posted March 29, 2023 Posted March 29, 2023 Awful. Time for places with laws like these to be sanction.
AMIT Posted March 30, 2023 Posted March 30, 2023 the smooth brains in here acting like neocolonialism isn't a thing
