Health and sexuality courses are fine.. but this new, very much Western, very much post-pandemic curriculum that pertains to teaching kids concepts like neo-pronouns i.e Xe/Xer and confusing gender ideology, blurring lines between male and female and encouraging kids to seek resources to transition as early as possible is clearly off-putting to a lot of people :deadbanana4:

Where did you read this? :skull:

I’ve been watching the The Handmaid’s Tale and it’s very scary how we seem the following in the same path. :psyduck:

But I was ensured that this law was only meant to cover very young kids up to grade 3? It’s absolutely impossible that Desantis could’ve championed a “palatable” version of the bill that he can now change at a whim to target whatever group he likes for whatever made up reason. After all, we all know that Democrats are just as bad as Republicans

I don't really know much about DeSantis but it's pretty scary how he let democrats run with wild lies about the "Don't say gay" bill and now that he's actually doing those things, the outrage machine is exhausted. I honestly thought all of this was already in the bill.

Nobody was running wild with lies, and this expansion is proof of that.

Also, who is even teaching gender studies and sexuality in school? :deadbanana:

The expansion with things that Democrats told people were already happening (and that it was worse) is proof that Democrats were telling the truth? :deadbanana2:

Also, I don't have a problem with teaching genders studies and sexuality in school, but yall need to decide on whether it's happening and crucial for kids or that it isn't happening and Republicans are just making it up, because trying to run with both is not helping anyone.

At what point will yall realize that trying to deny reality only helps Republicans get away with this? I mean if yall only want to keep Democratic leadership unaccountable then go ahead and keep enabling Republicans, I guess.

This is literally insane :skull:

I'm worried about the future of FL. It really is such a great place to live your life but these politicians are making it harder and harder unless you side with them. I would love to move back at some point but I'm certainly re-considering now

Sis, if there was ever a Gilead to happen (which seems more likely than ever) Florida is the one to become that. Run far away from that state :rip:

I… you are in a thread explaining exactly how those “wild lies” were all 100% true :deadbanana:

Oh wow, who could've predicted this? :coffee2:

I can guarantee he won't be stopping there either.  He's going full assault on the entire LGBTQ+ community.

this is a horrible thing to do. people, especially kids need to be educated on the thoughts that they may be having, and that it's okay to be gay / queer. it's so strange to me how republicans say they stand for freedom, but do things like this that take away from people's freedom. i don't know how americans can pledge their allegiance to that country, especially the line "justice and liberty for all", when things like this disprove that claim.

this coverage is so unhelpful without context. what exactly happened? who exactly kidnapped the kids and why?
