This. I was hoping this would be the album that re-solidifies Kelly in the pop/rock world since she's been missing from it for a minute, but these songs just don't do it for me. Kelly said something about how the 2 songs show off "different sides" of the album, and if that's the case...I fear what the album, overall, actually sounds like, since neither really pull me in and are easily forgettable, like you said. They're her worst singles to date.

I can actually see her being dropped from her label if these songs and album don't perform well, and I have a feeling they won't.

I hope I'm wrong. :jonny6:

Sis this album can flop and they would still not drop her lol

And Kelly isn't a pop rock queen anymore. She wasn't really into it after awhile I'm pretty sure. Her last album was a good mix of the two.

when she doesn't let her studio audience in until they purchase mine on itunes and it goes top 10 >>>>>>

I mean she should be doing this, get a photo with KC if you show proof of purchase on iTunes

Cute but I probably won’t stream again.

Mine is that *****. It already feels like the perfect opening song, showing Kelly in a moment of restless reflection and then the instrumental fading out at the end only leaving her voice for a moment. It's truly like as if we caught her in a deeply personal moment and she invites us to sit down and talk. I'm really curious what Skip This Part will sound like.

Also her label probably doesn't give a ****. It's not like those both songs have a current commercial sound, I think they really let her do her thing. It seems like she licenses her music to Atlantic anyway, it's not like they totally own her masters. This deal they have probably gives her a lot of freedom.

Not Kelly laying her heart and soul out on the table with with these personal lyrics and then some of y'all calling it forgettable. Kelly is too mature for pop rock at this stage in her career. This feels like the right type of music to show off her writing and vocal talents.

I would like to speak with Brandon after LISTENING to these songs. It seems like he really let down her and their relationship.

Melissa Etheridge says hi.

Melissa Etheridge is not pop rock. Never has been. Never will be.

Great songs, I loved both of them. Excited for the album but I hope there will be a Stronger/Miss Independent to balance the heartbreak out with its sass.

Tidbits from the IG live today:

- Says the most personal song on ‘chemistry’ is the title track, says it’s unlike any song she’s recorded and also says it’s a nod to Jeff Buckley.

- Says she references country music on the album but it’s not actually country sounding. Says the album is very pop, singer/songwriter, punk rock, and soul. Says it’s ‘Breakaway’ meets ’Stronger’ meets ‘Meaning of Life’

- Says it’s similar in rawness to ‘My December’ but much different sonically than MD.

- Says church vocals on “me” are all her.

- Says there’s a big reason why Steve Martin is on the album that is referenced in another song.

- Wishes full album was out.

- Big announcement coming Monday.

Kelly Clarkson will not get dropped even if this album flops :deadbanana2:

She's too big of a star and has proven herself. She has nothing to prove anymore.

I loved mine :chick3:

If Kelly went back to pop/rock then some of you would be saying it’s nothing new, it’s what’s she always does, and she needs to be fresh to be relevant. She can’t win either way. She’s already proved her worth so she’s not out here trying to go #1 and make hits.

Again and to those who think these are generic and boring go back and listen to Mr Know It all, Heartbeat Song, heck even Never Again. These songs did what they needed to and got the public interest for her upcoming album.

She said the gang vocals in the chorus of “mine” are all her. She never said the choir in “me” was her, just that the soulful/gospel vibe came naturally to the song.

i wonder if she actually forgot she did release two songs with MOL too or if she meant two 'singles' since Move you wasn't really a single (?)

the more songs she's releasing at the same time, the better

Guys.. why are you all worried.. you know she picks the worst songs on the album as her leads… mr. Know it all, love so soft, heartbeat song, MLWSWY, never again, breakaway and a moment like this.. her albums always have so many great songs, so trust this will be a great album! The second single is always what get’s her going… like sybg, piece of me, miss independent etc..

these are her best first singles of any album (breakaway is cute) so just wait and be blown away..

I personally do love these songs.. are they hits? No! But she needed to get then out, because this is her life atm.

Posted

i think it's really about the album as a whole...she said she let her label pick the singles cause she was fine with whatever song to be released

mine and me weren't even the first choices

can't wait to hear all of them

A lot of you pretending you know what's a hit and what's not.....and it's obvious you don't know what you're talking about :coffee2:
