Was hoping it was Taika's lol.

They may as well just scrap everything and start from scratch.  Bring back Jaina Solo :alexz:

It all started when D&D cursed the franchise by announcing their trilogy, notice how everything when down since that

Franchise poison, I fear :giraffe:

I’d rather they just keep making shows tbh

less is more

i wish these companies would realize this

What's going on with this franchise?

It's like no one wants to work with KK/Lucasfilm anymore :deadbanana2:.

The way Disney is lowkey destroying everything it touches.

And let's not even talk about the BOMBS of movies like Turning Red, Lightyear or the last Ant-Man.

What a sh*tshow :celestial6:Sometimes I can't help but wonder what George Lucas thinks about the current status of this franchise.

Selling Lucasfilm to Disney was a huge mistake.

I mean, George Lucas was planning on making the sequels about the microscopic world of midichlorians and the Whills, so thank god Lucas sold. :skull:

At least Disney gave us a couple good movies and Andor.

I'd rather have his original ideas and input than the nostalgia bait uninspired crap that Disney gave us.

The prequels would have been even better if someone else directed them but he remained with creative input. Removing him as the backbone of the universe removed what makes Star Wars Star Wars.

Within 10 years Star Wars has gone from a franchise poised for a massive comeback & continuous dominance with guaranteed profits to a franchise where the studio is afraid to put out a movie due to a high chance of bombing. Bob Iger ****** up by rushing Episode 7 out and having Kathleen fire the original scriptwriter and trying the Marvel approach with the franchise.

The main films not having a set cohesive story led to audiences completely abandoning the Skywalker storyline. They seem to still be flailing in the wind with not being able to find an alternative to the Skywalkers despite there being decades of EU stories that they could have adapted and done. In fact they rely on the post Return of the Jedi period so much hoping that it will get them somewhere.

The biggest mistake of all is these studios like Disney not realizing that some stories are meant to END and not go on forever. Endings are what give meaning and closure to stories, they are a destination that the story builds towards. The first six films were the story of Anakin and it should have ended with that.

It's definetly a little pathetic how they still haven't gotten over the trauma of Solo and the the last two Skywalker episodes. It's good that they're being cautious after the mismanagement of the late 2010s, but if they cancel every movie in development they will never step out of their comfort zone.

I mean, there is still a lot of content. They're very focused on shows, with Dave Filoni and Jon Favreau carrying basically everything. Last year there was the Kenobi series, I don't think no one wants to work with the studio. It's the movie department that's lacking, but going for around a decade without a new movie is nothing new for SW anyway.

Turning red was a streaming smash, away with your hooliganism

They also need to realize that not every Star Wars movie needs to be made into a trilogy. I'd rather this studio take it's time developing a solid story rather than rush it through.

“Encanto” had more than double the watch time of the next most-viewed movies, Pixar’s “Turning Red”.

It wasn't that successful.

#2 streamed film of the year with over 11 billion mins viewed, looks like a success to me, stop dragging asian excellence

Do we know what any of the scrapped movies so far were supposed to be about?

It's such a shame. Disney destroys every franchise they purchase. The only one that hasn't been destroyed is Avatar and that's cause James Cameron won't let them.

Turning red was released when COVID restriction were still a thing.

Encanto was a world wide phenomena thanks to the soundtrack.

Turning red was number 2 ahead of sing 2.

you can fume all you want, it did not do Encanto numbers but it did to really well.

Good, let this franchise rest for a while.

Well it's good that they're being careful about the next movies. Hope they're able to come up with something fresh to continue the franchise. I think the Disney+ shows are cheapening the brand tbh
