i don't understand how this guy will consistently be in the top ten or even top five spot on itunes for days (if not weeks) yet has apparently only charted once on billboard...is iTunes (and his streaming) really that dead? :rip:

His fans probably buy a copy of his song on the iTunes store for a $1.29, but never actually listen to it.

It really is. iTunes is almost inconsequential to the charts now besides the very biggest sellers a couple times a year, and even those are usually from other retailers like artists' websites.

Sounds a lot like Nicki Minaj, Swifties, and BTS army. All Billboard has to do is stop counting these sales towards their charts, and much of this nonsense will stop. I don't understand why anyone in 2023 would spend $1.29 per copy of a song on iTunes (and probably don't listen to it), when they could go to YouTube and stream the song for free.

tbh, I missed when iTunes wasn't like this since now we have MAGA people invading it

The difference is that sales were a legitimate form of consumption back in those days. It's just that in the 2020s post-UGC era, sales have been used more as a form chart manipulation from BTS to Nicki Minaj to Taylor Swift and now MAGA/Tom McDonald/Trump.

And how exactly would they do that? How do they distinguish mass sales from normal sales?

"Joe Biden should be executed because he single-handedly caused inflation to be 6% and it's ruining my life!" the average MAGAt exclaims right before spending $15.48 on 12 digital iTunes files they'll never actually listen to from musical artists "Tom MacDonald", "Natasha Owens" and "the J6 Prison Choir."

It’s going to be a miserable day when MAGA figure out streaming :deadbanana2:
