vale9001 Posted March 20, 2023 Posted March 20, 2023 (edited) I don't think there is a pure r'n'b act there is really a generation icon. The weeknd and drake are the most near thing. Edited March 20, 2023 by vale9001
JayG Posted March 20, 2023 Posted March 20, 2023 I also think we need to obliterate this “Gen Z” narrative. Like… the lines are blurred now. Chris Brown crossing over to younger people too proves age ain’t nothing but a number, especially with music. 1 minute ago, vale9001 said: I don't think there is a pure r'n'b act there is really a generation icon. truthteller Posted March 20, 2023 Posted March 20, 2023 the good old days where we called The Weeknd, Frank Ocean and Miguel the trinity of neoR&B

This is for Chris Brown and this is for Miguel. The weeknd and Drake are the one with a "face" for the gen z. Are you saying they're not r'n'n enough...chris brown is getting viral for pop music too. I don't get why Frank ocean is in the survays too, when his second album came out the oldest in the gen z category were like teens. Who knows him in the Gen Z?. Edited March 20, 2023 by vale9001

Everyone knows who Chris Brown is Sure Thing by Miguel was already a hit in the US 12 years ago, but ppl outside the US may be discovering it now because of Tik Tok
50thStateofMind Posted March 20, 2023 Posted March 20, 2023 100% millenial acts Chris Brown Frank Ocean Miguel The Weeknd

Katamari Posted March 20, 2023 Posted March 20, 2023 (edited) It was THE Khalid but he fell off hard since the panini so it’s hard to say Weeknd had the success though so it’s probably him Edited March 20, 2023 by Katamari

fentypark Posted March 20, 2023 Posted March 20, 2023 chris brown and the weeknd getting named i’d say for me it’s a tossup between 6lack, khalid, and maybe brent faiyaz… but most of the R&B i listen to is older so…
Machete Posted March 20, 2023 Posted March 20, 2023 The Weeknd even though he hasn't put out an R&B album since his mainstream debut
dabunique Posted March 20, 2023 Posted March 20, 2023 i would love to say my King but he hasn't released an album in 7 years and a single in three years

ImsoLOUD Posted March 20, 2023 Posted March 20, 2023 Purely speaking music, I believe it would be Chris Brown. However, I think stats wise, it would be The Weeknd.
Material Girl Posted March 20, 2023 Posted March 20, 2023 i guess the weeknd even though i'd consider him pop at this point my personal fave is frank ocean tho
