Armani? Posted March 20, 2023 Posted March 20, 2023 (edited) The King Of Pop is Michael Jackson but who is the Prince of Pop? Edited March 20, 2023 by Armani?
vale9001 Posted March 20, 2023 Posted March 20, 2023 I don't get the list. Too much different decades end Elton and Paul are really very distant from Mj music and type of performances. I would say the same for Prince, he really is a rock act. From the ones there i would say the weeknd. But Bruno Mars and Sheeran should be in the list too if names as Bieber and Abel are
Selegend Posted March 20, 2023 Posted March 20, 2023 (edited) Bruno Mars should be listed and he is in fact the superior answer. Success, stage presence, consistency and acclaim. The Weeknd is a strong option, his catalog is insane but he misses the "stage moves" Bruno has. Timberlake peak was EVERYTHING but he lacked consistency after 20/20 Bieber lacks a lot of things to list here, he has success and that's it Prince is iconic but idk his catalog. so maybe it is him but i can't say since idk. Paul and Elton John give "iconic legends" feeling but no prince of pop feeling it really is bruno mars i'm afraid Edited March 20, 2023 by Selegend
TiaTamera Posted March 20, 2023 Posted March 20, 2023 The Biebs JT also makes sense but it feels like there was no follow through.

Johnny Cash Posted March 20, 2023 Posted March 20, 2023 His name is Justin Timberlake. Aside from the commercial success, he's the only one that created his own distinctive sound and influenced the direction of Pop music at the time. He's also more iconic in general, everyone is familiar with his aesthetic and career. The only one who comes close is The Weeknd.
Cheers Posted March 20, 2023 Posted March 20, 2023 King Bieber. His pop culture impact and influence is far superior.
Nico Robin Posted March 20, 2023 Posted March 20, 2023 right now? Has to be Abel and his not stopping ever lasting relevance and success
Power love Posted March 20, 2023 Posted March 20, 2023 The way you don’t have Usher on the list is disgusting and embarrassing

Nano Posted March 20, 2023 Posted March 20, 2023 I'm not sure how anyone can take Bieber seriously. In my mind he's still the fem boy who sang Baby that everyone made fun of in school.
alejandreaux Posted March 20, 2023 Posted March 20, 2023 Prince, Elton, and Paul are closer to being Michael’s peers and each deserve their own honorific titles. i think the “Prince of Pop” should come from the generations that followed Michael’s and were influenced by the blueprint he created. that being said, personally i feel like it’s between Bruno and JT. they have the hits, the longevity, the range, the performance chops, the vocals, etc. that puts them in the running to have that kind of honorific title in the new generation of pop stars. if The Weeknd and JB were stronger performers i think a better argument could be made for them, but i can’t overlook the fact that they wouldn’t stand a chance on a stage next to Michael. Bruno and JT could at least hold their own. Ed is just not even in the running for me he has very impressive stats but i just don’t see him as an overall representative of what Pop is. he really only had like 1, maybe 2 dominant eras in the mainstream pop realm if you think about it.
Johnny Jacobs Posted March 20, 2023 Posted March 20, 2023 (edited) Michael ain't my king of pop but ill play along.. I think the title of prince of pop is changing alot. It went from: (and im saying it from success vibes not my personal input) Justin t Justin b Bruno The weeknd Edited March 20, 2023 by Johnny Jacobs
AxelFox Posted March 20, 2023 Posted March 20, 2023 Prince but I'm really offended at the exclusion of George Michael considering some of the other options included
AvadaKedavra Posted March 20, 2023 Posted March 20, 2023 (edited) Madonna X Michael Britney X Justin Timberlake The old royalty of pop Now we have an expanded royal family Disagree about Bieber. The prince of Pop title was already owned when bieber was starting Is like Stripping Britney from the princess of pop title and giving it to Taylor-Gaga Timberlake owns that title. Imitating MJ's singing style and Timbaland/Neptunes productions are not exclusive to Justin Timberlake. Prince is an actual example of an artist who has his own distinctive sound. It even has a name (the Minneapolis sound) and it actually changed the course of popular music. OT: Prince is the best and most influential artist from that list so him I guess. A case for The Weeknd could be made as well given his humongous success.
Bloodflowers. Posted March 20, 2023 Posted March 20, 2023 George Michael or Robbie Williams The Weeknd is the King of Pop in terms of 21st century
My Tears Ricochet Posted March 20, 2023 Posted March 20, 2023 That title will forever belong to Bieber
