Zayn started off stronger than the others (and had the advantage of releasing first), but once Harry released, he quickly proved he was always the fan favorite.

Considering how the other 4 are completely irrelevant i have to go with Harry. 

 

The most irrelevant is probably Louis, i rarely see anyone talk about him, at least Zayn goes viral from time to time for his handsomeness, Liam for being egocentric or for his terrible plastic surgeries and I'm not sure why people talk about Niall but I've seen him on my TL a few times.

Harry is obviously #1 without question, and Niall is clearly #2. Niall isn't exactly a household name but he pulls cute numbers and can book lil gigs like The Voice at least. The other 3 are completely dead commercially.

 

Zayn seemed to have promise just cause he jumped ship first but the second everyone else joined him it became evident he was always one of the least-popular within their core base  .  His only relevance now though just seems to be his toxic entanglement with the hadids???

 

Louis is the only one to have absolutely zero solo hits/notoriety whatsoever (remember Liam at least got Strip That Down before he started to bomb), i think the only thing that keeps him hanging on by a thread over Liam these days is Harry's fans support him hard since they were apparently perceived as a "duo" in the fandom's hey day (from what i gather, theres actually a lunatic portion who all truly think they're secret lovers

I don't have to explain Harry. He's literally one of the biggest pop stars in the world, period. He's far surpassed 1D atp. Niall's music does better than Zayn's (and, really, other than Pillowtalk, it's always done better), but Zayn is a more recognizable name. I think Niall will end up 2nd in terms of name recognition because of The Voice (they're also doing the most to tie him in with 1D). Louis is above Zayn in music because his albums do better (Walls and FITF did better than Icarus Falls and NIL), and while his singles don't really do anything, neither do Zayn's anymore. He can also tour (tiny theaters, but hey, a tour is a tour). Zayn is still above Liam in terms of music because almost everyone is above Liam, former 1D member or not.

 

In terms of name recognition Louis is a literal nobody in America. Niall and Liam have their niche reasons to have a small portion of non-fans be aware of them (Liam in particular is that he's become a meme), but Louis is relegated to just his tiny fanbase.

 

Worldwide I would say:

And I'd say that's pretty much the case everywhere individually as well.

Liam and Louis are the least relevant. Liam is only relevant right now because of that weird attention being shone on him because of what he did to his face. He could still make an impact if he were to do the OnlyFans. He has a beautiful body that we want to see as naked as possible.
