It took me one google search to realize this was, in fact, not true

The text you just quoted literally shows I am right and you are wrong. You are literally showing that multiple people can nominate someone for the military school and it isn't the sole duty of a congressperson. What did you think you were doing by proving me right?

If there’s a person from AOC’s district that wants to attend a military academy, do you think she should be allowed to refuse them a nomination

Literally yes. Even members of her former campaign are criticizing her for supporting the military recruitment. Just because congressmen can doesn't mean they should. Congressmen can visit military bases and support the military- that doesn't mean a leftist official should because the military is at odds with being a leftist. :deadbanana4:

Tell me how many people could nominate you outside of your congressman. Do you know a lot of children of deceased servicemen?

:bibliahh:

Right now the only people criticizing her are the ones who haven’t done a second of their own research into the matter (🫵), and believing the exaggerated viral tweets.

What is your obsession with the US and bombing people? You bring it up in EVERY exchange I have with you. Even the ones totally unrelated. Do you legitimately think people sign up for these military academies or the armed forces with the thought “dang I can’t wait to bomb people in times of war.”

You’re joking right? :bibliahh:

These aren’t people you can go to for a nomination, they’re different nomination sources.

Go down to the “Apply for Nomination” section and each one gets outlined. Maybe it’s better to educate yourself on the process before you go running around trying to educate others, because you clearly don’t understand it. :priceless:

Are you...genuinely illiterate?

Navy and Marine Corps (Active & Reserve)

Applicants who are enlisted in the U.S. Navy or U.S. Marine Corps are eligible for this nomination Applicants should contact your Command Career Counselor and OPNAVINST 1420.1 or Marine Corps Order 1040.43 for more information.

????????

Yes, this is saying those who are enlisted in the Navy already can ask their unit to nominate them to be accepted into the naval college??

And that those part of the ROTC programs for both the Navy and Marine programs can ask for nominations by their units as well??

You are literally showing the multiple pathways that exist that don't require AOC.

What aren't you getting?

I’m showing that every pathway in outside of ridiculously special circumstances stems from prerequisites that they’re ALREADY involved in the military or ROTC. Also, do you actually think a selective academy is going to look at a nomination from a random ass ROTC officer and weight it as heavily as a legislator sponsored nomination?

Also, she was lying. The military academies don't require congressional recommendations. Recommendations can be from anyone - it's like saying letters of recommendation for colleges "need" to be from x when it's just "more impressive".

The jokes write themselves. :skull:

Again, war is bad. The military is bad. You can't be a leftist and shovel people into the military-industrial complex.

So you’re pro getting rid of the military all together? You can be a leftist and acknowledge the ridiculous spending and lobbying done from defense contractors, but you can also understand that having a line of defense is necessary. We don’t live in a perfect world, and if we did everyone would demilitarize. Your favorite country certainly won’t.

The US should be forced to demilitarize for nearly everything we’ve done since the end of WWII. All we’ve done is terrorize the world and overthrow governments purely because they weren’t sufficiently subservient to our hyper capitalist, exploitative interests. :deadbanana2:
