Finished season 6 and I think it was a good season.

However, they should've focused more on the crown itself  (The Queen) more rather than having 3 heavy episodes of Diana, 2 Episodes about William+Kate.

Diana's path towards her death has been adapted so many times and Peter Morgan has already made a movie about it as well. (The Queen Starring Helen Mirren)

Highlight episodes were:

'Ruritania' - Tony Blair and The Queen's working relationship was testy from the start.

Even when he managed to save them during the aftermath of Diana's death. His 'Modernization of Britain' and his Domestic policies weren't popular with the late Queen.

I love the parallel between Tony's political and state-like approach versus The Queen's provincial and apolitical approach to public engagements.

They should've made a Callback to season 1 when The Queen scolded Winston Churchill and quoted Walter Bagehot's "The Efficient and The Dignified".

'Ritz' - For me, this was quite melancholic. Princess Margaret was The Queen's confidant and best friend. They were inseparable since birth and aside from the queen's mother, Princess Margaret instinctively knew what the Queen was going through and thinking. Seeing her go through that stroke and eventual decline in health was heart-wrenching.

Season 6 should've ended with more crescendo and tribute towards the late Queen. William + Kate's story is not that fascinating, to be honest.

Season 6 was amazing and a huge step up from season 5! Surprisingly, I found the post-Diana episodes way more enjoyable than the Diana ones. I especially loved the bits with William and Harry. The ending was also really lovely and... poetic in a sense.

It's sad that the series is over, I wish they made one more season to catch up with Elizabeth's funeral and Charles' reign, but on the other hand, it seems too early for that. Maybe in 20-30ish years lol

Okay just finished S6 and it was definitely an upgrade from S5. Part 2 especially was great and the episodes that focused on the Queen reminded me of the earlier Crown episodes. The last scene was amazing.
Also, the actress that played Diana did a great job, it almost felt like her. She deserves an Emmy.

I'm watching season six, episode 5 and I'm so thoroughly confused by the timeline. We're expected to believe that only a couple of months have passed since Diana's death, but the actors (particularly Harry) have aged substantially through that time. :skull: I thought we'd jumped a couple of years!

Part 2 of season 6 sucks.. So boring :deadbanana:

i just realized that at the end, the long hallway symbolizes her long reign. The doors opening at the far end with the bright light shining is her passing away. Beautiful. Simply stated

I didn't find a lot of the William and Kate stuff particularly interesting, but I thought the second part was stronger than the first.

The eighth episode was the highlight of the season for me. I definitely shed a few tears. Lesley Manville deserves all the flowers for that performance as Princess Margaret.

finished it and I really liked the ending but thought the last few were mid overall, especially the William and Kate stuff, yawnn! Stuff with Elizabeth was v interesting throughout the season and I'm glad...

Spoiler

it had a very understated ending and didn't have 30 slides of text at the end explaining what happened up until the present. Simple and understated.

Whether or not she actually thought about abdicating, it must've gone through her head at some point and the dramatic tension of charles' wedding made that work well imo

Not the ending trying to make Camila looks like an angel :bibliahh:

I hated that it “ended” with Charles and Camilla’s wedding,  but appropriate that she was at that chapel and wearing white since that’s where she’s curried. I liked Phillips little nod to that and he walked away as his “death”.

The William/Kate episodes were meh, could have reduced one of them and had more recent events, like COVID/more or Phillips death and her own.

I do wish there was a bit of text at the end with a couple lines about her reign and how it was the longest for any British Monarch, the longest recorded female reign and so on.

Finally got around to finishing S6 and it was a masterpiece. :clap3:

Margaret’s death episode was fantastic. Lesley Manville did amazing.

I’m going to miss this show. Can’t wait to do a rewatch from the beginning.
