It just feels effortlessly boppy and put-together. Naturally groovy. Alison is truly a legend

BeachRat Posted May 13, 2023 Posted May 13, 2023 the beat divine is another level of an ecstasy filled gay disco night coming to an end at 6am while everybody around you in the club is naked. she IS making music for this type of gheys.
4Walls Posted May 13, 2023 Posted May 13, 2023 Shout out to Subterfuge for being a vibey synthy melancholic dream pop masterpiece! It floored me the first time I heard it. I love when she does these types of tracks, so airy and beautiful.

Frozen99 Posted May 14, 2023 Posted May 14, 2023 it's a cool album with great highs (the fever remix, neverstop, digging deeper, gatto gelato) but you guys are acting as if second coming of jesus
ATRL Moderator madonnas Posted May 14, 2023 ATRL Moderator Posted May 14, 2023 This album is great. It feels like the mud 00s old Goldfrapp sound made modern. But it just feels so obvious, like of course this is what a solo Alison album would sound like. What makes it so good is how effortless it sounds .

Blue Jeans Posted May 15, 2023 Posted May 15, 2023 I’m starting to really vibe with it. Synthpop perfection! So hypnotic. A huge grower
Kern Posted May 15, 2023 Posted May 15, 2023 Why is it getting mixed reviews? Is it because people got so used to bad music they don't know what to do when someone releases something good and fresh?
B-Luke Posted May 15, 2023 Posted May 15, 2023 Only 6.8 from Pitchfork I thought this would be BNM https://pitchfork.com/reviews/albums/alison-goldfrapp-the-love-invention/
TrueBlood Posted May 15, 2023 Posted May 15, 2023 The beats on this album are KILLERS, it has such a solid production from start to finish. Really, really good record. I love how she effortlessly combines super poppy and catchy melodies with such a good, electronic production. It reminds me a lot of Roisin Machine. My only complaint is that overall it sounds like an obvious record from her, but that doesn't take away how good it is.
MusicIsMyMaster Posted May 15, 2023 Posted May 15, 2023 I really wanted to like this album, since the singles released were all fireeeeeeeeee But as a whole everything sounds the same as the song before it.

Yeah, same issue here. It has some standouts but the melodies are rather weak and everything feels very same-y.
