But Bafta did get backlash that one year enough that they invented this whole jury system in the first place. which is why fantasia, vivian, teo, colman, danielle got in. That said, I am SHOCKED still that killers missed director and especially actress (actor isn't shocking after sag). I mean, I do think lily is supporting, but Bafta has totally not had a problem with that in the past. It is possible that the brits just kinda don't have great attachment to an Important story about native american oppression. I had been assuming Emma would win the Bafta but that it would be over Lily, not with Lily absent. Yeah I think that’s one of the reasons Gladstone didn’t even get picked by the jury, the Native American population here is tiny. So they probably didn’t feel the need to “save” her and represent a community like they did with Black and Asian actors. 1 1

Jessie Posted January 18 Posted January 18 The way All of Us Strangers is a British movie that hasn’t even been released in the UK yet 2 3
hausofdave Posted January 18 Posted January 18 I was bullish on Scott making the final 5, but him not making BAFTA makes me just go back to DiCaprio
fridayteenage Posted January 18 Posted January 18 in the top 8 categories: 6 Holdovers Oppenheimer 4 All of Us Strangers Maestro Anatomy of a Fall 3 Poor Things Barbie Zone of Interest Saltburn 2 Color Purple Killers of the Flower Moon Past Lives Kinda shook Holdovers tied Oppenheimer for top categories. Sideways got 1 nom. Descendants 3. Nebraska 3.
Lovett Posted January 18 Posted January 18 What a whirlwind of emotions I'm feeling looking at those noms! I'm absolutely thrilled for Anatomy of Fall, Sandra Hüller, Teo Yoo, Past Lives, Fantasia and Danielle Brooks. But I'm also devastated for Andrew Scott, Greta Lee and Lily Gladstone. 1

Stone / Murphy / Gladstone / RDJ Gosling would be so goated. when there are enough splinter votes for supporting that this happens, and Ellis Taylor is the only WOC in Lead (and then gladstone could still end up runner-up; when she was in supporting at LAFCA, juggernaut Randolph still won) Edited January 18 by fridayteenage
hausofdave Posted January 18 Posted January 18 London Critics actually called the Killers snub in screenplay.
Eóghan Posted January 18 Posted January 18 So happy for Foy, Pike, Huller, Brooks and Mescal. Yorgos was criminally snubbed for Director. Lilly too. Saltburn overperforming here means it might do the same thing at the Oscars and score 1 (or even 2) surprise nominations that will cause quite the stir. There's a Variety article who polled the academy voters on the last day of voting and there were saying that Saltburn was surging in the last 2 weeks because of it's virality/word-of-mouth https://variety.com/2024/film/columns/oscar-voting-closes-surprises-barbie-saltburn-1235873942/
Green Posted January 18 Posted January 18 Emma Stone is coming for her second Oscar Both Di Caprio & Lily Gladstone snubbed Di Caprio will probably be snubbed at the Oscars after missing SAG and BAFTAs
Liafen Posted January 18 Posted January 18 Yeah, Saltburn was peaking at the perfect time. It was the talk of the town for, like, 2 weeks straight lmao. I hope Godamund makes it in, apart from her no one else deserves
hausofdave Posted January 18 Posted January 18 hmm Zone missed BP, Triet might be stronger than Glazer after all
Green Posted January 18 Posted January 18 I believe Emma, Carey and Margot were top 3 because I really doubt the jury saved Margot
Kylizzle Posted January 18 Posted January 18 (edited) Lily Gladstone missing Having seen Zone of Interest, Sandra realistically deserves to be winning both. Vivian Oparah IN Edited January 18 by Kylizzle
hausofdave Posted January 18 Posted January 18 Not calling it a trend, but WB also distributed Inception, Argo, ASIB and Dune all favored for BD nom
Green Posted January 18 Posted January 18 For the Oscars: Actor: Cillian Murphy Paul Giamatti Bradley Cooper Colman Domingo ---------- 5th: Jeffrey Wright Vs. Leonardo DiCaprio Actress: Emma Stone Lily Gladstone Carey Mulligan Margot Robbie ------------- 5th: Sandra Hüller Vs Fantasia Barrino Supporting Actor: Robert Downey Jr Ryan Gosling Robert De Niro --------------- 4th and 5th: Willem Dafoe Vs Mark Ruffalo Vs Charles Melton Supporting Actress: Da'Vine Joy Randolph Emily Blunt Danielle Brooks --------------- 4th and 5th: Jodie Foster Vs. WildAmerican Posted January 18 Author Posted January 18 I think Barbie should watch out for Past Lives/Anatomy - both of those films could knock out Margot/Greta in Actress/Director respectively - Avatar/Top Gun missed director last year.

Kylizzle Posted January 18 Posted January 18 Killers kinda aged already outside of Lily's wonderful performance. 1
Leptine Posted January 18 Posted January 18 Gladstone being snubbed but Fantasia Barrino making it, it's so weird and unexpected. Now I can see Stone taking it, we'll see what is going to happen with SAG.
