I have a feeling Emma Stone is indeed getting her 2nd oscar. I rly dont feel the push for Lily Gladstone is as strong as Yeoh's last year. Esp with Killers not being a force in other categories... SAG better throw in another plot twist to make this more exciting. We need more of the pandemic years type of chaos

so is this going to another Yeoh-Blanchett 2.0?

The difference is that Yeoh is well known and loved and in a movie that also competed in many other main categories.

The Gladstone/Yeoh comparisons crumble when you look at the fact that:

1. Yeoh was an extremely respected industry veteran who had been snubbed before AND built up a sense that she deserved a moment of recognition

2. She was the indisputable lead of EEAAO with a showy role, not the 3rd most important character who looks around and reacts for most of the film

3. Her film completely swept and she was partially carried to a win. She wasn't fighting to be the sole win of her film.

Just finished The Holdovers. Couldn't find an official thread but it was by the far the best 2023 release I've seen :clap3:

yeah, in recent years scorsese's had:

0x winner irishman

0x winner silence

0x winner wolf of wall street

in fact, in the last 30 years the only acting winner scorsese's had was...Blanchett. so if Lily won she would join Blanchett.

Oppenheimer's eight CC wins ties it with LLL for second-most all-time in CC history (the record holder with 9 is Fury Road, though  worth noting that

1) Fury Road did not win Best Picture at Critics Choice

2) its win total is inflated with a few "action" category wins

Imagine if Florence Pugh is this year Marina de Tavira :jonny5:

At least theirs some fun competition for the movie's side. Can’t say the same for the TV’s side.

So happy for Emma. The best performance I saw I last year.

Still thinking that Lily will win Oscar at the end though.

I just finished The Curse with Emma Stone. It’ll be so funny when Emma Stone wins over Lily Gladstone at the Oscars which would be a reflection of the whole premise of The Curse. A white woman winning in life over the natives.

Murphy isn’t necessarily the guaranteed winner and Stone is dramatically more of a threat than people think.

There's still hope for Murphy.

Will Payne's sexual allegation affect The Holdover performance at SAG and Oscar?

These allegations are not new, I don't think they will affect him that much
