So I guess Neon, A24, and Netflix are the big winners coming out of Cannes. Anatomy is an obvious push for Neon, A24 has their mega-acclaimed highbrow push for the year with Zone of Interest, and May December surprised and Netflix has not just a strong push, but a lifeline given how relatively shaky their slate seems to be this year.

Sandra Huller won at the end, despite not winning BA. I think she'll do very well with critics at the end of the year. Here for her first oscar nomination. :clap3:

The Zone of Interest not winning the Palme d'Or :ohwow:

I'll have to tune in for Anatomy of a Fall

The way, Asia started slaying. :clap3:

The biggest shock was Best Actress not going to Sandra Huller, but that turkish actress who was so shocked.

I wanted The Zone of Interest to win the Palme, but I guess we have to wait to watch the actual winner.

Sandra Huller being in both the Palme d'Or and the Grand Prix, hope she gets her moment soon even though she didn't get Best Actress. :celestial2:

it seemed like a pretty strong edition of Cannes this year overall.

Reupping this to say that Spiderverse deserves a Best Picture nom next year :gaycat1:

Just saw Past Lives. I'm thinking this is more of an Aftersun than an EEAAO.

Oh it should win at least Best Animated Film, and that would be 2/2 for the saga.

Score nomination is unlikely since the music was giving royalty free.

I'll expect original screenplay and maybe lead actor.

I always like to keep an open mind but I just don't see Cillian Murphy winning Best Actor this year, sorry

Past Lives can't even win best picture of the last six months? I know these aren't predictive for the Oscars but wow

I think Spider-Verse can snatch a BP nom at this rate

To me, it feels like HCA wanted to go all out for Spiderverse since they're aware that it actually getting into the Oscar's BP lineup is an uphill climb. Not that Past Lives wasn't liked.

Still a big day for Spiderverse, and there's proof that it can potentially run a passion-based campaign.
