Laura Dern in Marriage Story > RDJ in Oppenheimer

RDJ had a lot more to do in his film than Laura did, both are legacy cases but Laura’s was way more obvious.

Kinda feeling bad for Closetley, the amount of hate he's been getting lately is way too much.

Same. I honestly thought that Cillian was... fine? The only thing I remember about his performance are the protruding bug eyes he did every other shot. :rip: I genuinely don't see what others do in it.

He's on the BAFTA longlist and with AMPAS' increased block of international voters, I wouldn't say he is without chance for a nomination. Esp if Past Lives gets some spotlight from the SAG noms tomorrow.

That said, the BAFTAs are usually the contrarians but this year their longlists are kinda safe. Maybe SAG will be the one to throw a wrench in this so far rigid race.

Ensemble nod for The Iron Claw for example would be a nice shake-up.

Now that I think about it, The Holdovers trio should be clean-sweeping the acting categories; that movie would be nothing if all three weren't beyond captivating. Replace RDJ with any adequate actor and Oppy stays the same, you can't tell me otherwise. And now imagine idk Chalamet instead of Sessa, the jumpscare

Payne is basically a nonstarter in Director and AMPAS current Director's branch won't go for him, bookmark it
