Liafen Posted January 3 Posted January 3 Yeah I'm not bothered either, it's the harder category to win so 'category fraud' doesn't really make sense in this case. Will be happy for her if she wins but based on performance alone, I'd say it'd be a pretty lackluster win. She can pull ahead though. Apart from her narrative, she's also helped by the fact that Killers seems to be second in every other above the line category (with De Niro and DiCaprio not even win-competitive) so voters might be eager to reward the movie in this category. 1

Achilles. Posted January 4 Posted January 4 I loved Gladstone. It’s a very quiet and reserved performance, but she instilled it with such warmth and presence and a particularly haunting quality where I can still see Molly in my mind and feel her grief and resolve a week after watching. It’s a performance that lingers and stays with you. I think she’s absolutely a lead in the film by any measure—she wouldn’t even be in the top 40 shortest Lead Actress winners by screentime. And selfishly, I’m glad that she’s in Lead because my favorite performance of the year is Da’Vine Joy Randolph in The Holdovers. I’m so pleased to see her poised to sweep the season. She made me laugh out loud more than once. She made me cry more than once. Her scene at the dresser is my favorite scene of 2023. She’s just so, so good. Hoping Giamatti somehow breaks through the Murphy (go girl, give us nothing) and Cooper (lol) gridlock to pull off a Lead Actor win, but I’ll leave the season happy as long as Da’Vine wins. 2
fridayteenage Posted January 4 Posted January 4 (edited) It would be the sixth lead actress winner in less than 32 percent of the film In the last 45 years, the two exceptions were in films where everyone was in under 30 percent, hours and fargo Edited January 4 by fridayteenage

ALittleGauche Posted January 4 Posted January 4 I just saw Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. I didn’t know that it: Spoiler ends with “To be continued” It’s over for her. The Boy and the Heron wins.
harwee Posted January 4 Posted January 4 I feel like its Gladstone and Emma at the GG. But if Gladstone doesn't winhe r category, it'll throw a huge wrench into the race and leave it wide open and it could be anyone after that.

Almodusa Posted January 4 Posted January 4 The Costume Designers Guild was the one guild I wanted the Hunger Games to show up in the most, and it got 2 noms! So did Rebel Moon It already missed the Make-Up Artists & Hair Stylists Guild (and wasn’t on the Oscar shortlist). Wonder if it’ll show up at the Art Directors Guild
