IBelonginYourArms Posted January 2 Posted January 2 Saltburn has surprisingly high IMDb and Letterboxd ratings for a movie that has 61 on MC and that pundits deemed as dead the moment reviews came out. Seeing as it's making more noise than any other contender that is not Barbie or Oppenheimer, I wouldn't be surprised if Pike and Cinematography surprised at the Oscars. I also think that the movie might overperform at the BAFTAs. I thought the movie was 7/10 and was let down by the script in the third act, but I love an underdog story. Despite Film Twitter's obsession with lashing Fennell, the movie is clearly not a sophomore slump lol 1 1

More like irl and on Tiktok. It's also doing good on IMDb in terms of popularity rn https://www.imdb.com/chart/moviemeter/ #2 Saltburn #7 Poor Things #8 Maestro #13 Oppenheimer #15 Barbie #20 KOTM #21 Ferrari #24 The Holdovers #27 The Color Purple #39 May December #51 Anatomy of a Fall #63 Past Lives #85 American Fiction A popularity on streaming can carry Pike and even ensemble to SAG + the movie will most likely overperform with BAFTA longlists
AaronBryceSufjan Posted January 2 Posted January 2 does anyone think that Andrew Scott will surprisingly win GG? I happened to check the letterboxd accounts of some GG voters and most of them gave All of Us Strangers really high ratings.

GOTG, Barbie, Saltburn, Nyad all got mutliple noms here but aren't on the list. Maestro is taking it I guess, with the rest of the category being Oppenheimer, Poor Things... and whatever is randomly pulled out of a hat 1
Liafen Posted January 2 Posted January 2 Saltburn is the it movie of the last two weeks, no doubt about that. Pike benefits massively from the hype. 1
harwee Posted January 2 Posted January 2 The way I see it so far, only Killers of the Flower Moon, Oppenheimer and Barbie are locked. The Holdovers and American Fiction are very likely second tier. That's about it. Which means the last 5 slots will be a mad scramble.

Donquizote Posted January 3 Posted January 3 It will be chaos if Huller and Barrino both won their respective Globe category next Sunday Reminds me of Andra Day and Huppert unexpected wins.
CaptainMusic Posted January 3 Posted January 3 Greta Lee wasn’t that good in Past Lives, I don’t think she deserves a nomination for that performance. The guy was much better. 3 4
wesleywalrus Posted January 3 Posted January 3 If I said Poor Things had better production design than Barbie then what

AaronBryceSufjan Posted January 3 Posted January 3 a guy on another forum said he knew some of the GG voters and he asked 12 of them about their votes in Best Actor category (I'm not sure whether the source is reliable tho) Comedy/Musical: 10 ppl voted Paul Giamatti Drama: 8 ppl voted Bradley Cooper, 3 ppl voted Andrew Scott, 1 voted Barry Keoghan 1

Him not winning for ASIB was a travesty, but I'm really put off by projects like Maestro whose only purpose is to be a vehicle for awards. I'm glad he's thirsty for it, but I'd rather him win for something not as tryhard than rob us of either 1) Murphy win for an iconic role or 2) Giamatti win who acted circles around both of them. While we're on topic of BA, I could live with DiCaprio missing tbh, I'd much rather see a more interesting choice sneak in like Scott/Efron/Keoghan. Edited January 3 by Komet 1
Liafen Posted January 3 Posted January 3 maestro a 6.8 on IMDb a mess. haven't seen it yet but bradley's pretentious campaign is so off-putting 1
