Donquizote Posted December 29, 2023 Posted December 29, 2023 Greta might get nomination for BAFTA and SAG at this rate Won't be surprised if her name showed up during Oscar nomination morning 1
McNulty Posted December 29, 2023 Posted December 29, 2023 Killers of the Flower Moon was so so good, 3.5 hours and not a dull moment, a very well-crafted film. Leo and De Niro gave amazing performance and I don't know how they are underperforming with the regional critics. Lily Gladstone gave a subtle yet powerful performance. Racism and violence in America goes deep it's crazy to think about it 1
harwee Posted December 29, 2023 Posted December 29, 2023 None of the new movies seem to be shaking up the top tier race. Its a Killers of the Flower Moon vs Oppenheimer race and likely stay that way. I don't mind a surprise but none is showing up yet.

Racism and violence in America goes deep it's crazy to think about it Yeah. It’s also the only movie (that I can think of) that ties the discovery of oil in the south to racism against American Indians. So I dont mind it winning because that’s a story that many aren’t familiar with and is still being hidden. Spoiler I like how Scorsese tied the events with Tulsa massacre because the themes have similarities. That'sbeen hidden from Americans for decades and so was this. The ending of the movie says it all... there wasn’t even any mention about murders on Lily's obituary, and DiCaprio and DeNiro’s characters were eventually paroled. 2

Dr. Alexander Posted December 30, 2023 Posted December 30, 2023 I just finished watching Maestro and The Holdovers. Bradley did an excellent job at directing and his performance was very good. The screenplay fell flat although. It was too on the surface during the third act. Carey Mulligan had such a strong performance. Good grief. She was the standout. The Holdovers was…cute. If you took Scent of a Woman, School Ties, and Licorice Pizza and mixed them together in a bowl, you will get this film. I don’t see how Da’Vine is leading the Oscar race. Danielle Brooks had a much better performance…
QueenofCopyPaste Posted December 30, 2023 Posted December 30, 2023 The fact that Sandra is #4/5 in the race When she should be #1
Mr. Duff Posted December 30, 2023 Posted December 30, 2023 Looks like Natalie is out of the Actress face I really wish she could somehow sneak in. She was so good in May December (so are Julianne and Charles, which have bigger shots to get in the SA race) and she deserves to get in over Margot. Unpopular opinion, but I don’t think Barbie and The Holdovers are worthy of Best Picture. Especially Barbie. 4 1

Looking back I found it less overbearing and would choose to rewatch it if I had to choose; there was just so much plot, cuts and dialogue in Opp. Rn I'd give the edge to FM for BP, however I also think Nolan is taking Director and at the same time FM/Nolan split would be weird so I don't know... should be an interesting race even if there's no underdog spoiler. 1
QueenofCopyPaste Posted December 30, 2023 Posted December 30, 2023 Barbie is happening. Like it or not. Sadly

I hope miss Gewrgig is at least good at acting because i can't find a single strand of talent in her directing/writing. 1 4 2
