Who was even in second place that year? Gone Girl in general was done dirty that year considering Rosamund Pike was the only nomination the film got (when it should have been a shoo-in win for Screenplay that year but got weirdly shafted by the Oscars).
fridayteenage Posted March 16, 2023 Posted March 16, 2023 it was probably felicity jones. amy dunne's perfect iciness is not the kind of thing ampas likes to give prizes.
Liafen Posted March 16, 2023 Posted March 16, 2023 rosamund pike was robbed at gunpoinf by that alzheimer lady

Still Alice is cute but ugh, in a perfect world Gone Girl would've gotten so much more. Even Marion would've been a better winner. The fact GG didn't even get into adapted

Blade Runner Posted March 19, 2023 Posted March 19, 2023 (edited) Remembering Mrs. Meryl should have 4 more Oscars. Yep. Edited March 19, 2023 by Blade Runner
Liafen Posted March 19, 2023 Posted March 19, 2023 The way Miss Meryl got outplayed by Legend Viola in Doubt. I liked that one though. Osage was a bit too overplayed. Yes to Miranda!
fridayteenage Posted March 20, 2023 Posted March 20, 2023 well gone baby gone + the town + argo each got a supporting acting nom. Viola would be the most likely to continue the pattern.

Her performance received nothing but rave reviews so far. if the film stays true to the novel, it will be very divisive and not academy friendly (so likely good).

Well, Ottessa said the film is very faithful to the novel. As for the final act, critics are feeling divisive (It was expected I mean people heard audible gasps when it premiered ) but then again the Academy loves to recognize these dark, complex and multi-layered performances so we'll see!
