I would scream if Godzilla Minus One got the nomination :jonny2: Will there be a separate final 10/final 15 when the shortlists are revealed later this month?

The colour people is just a late breakout movie. The pundits hadn’t seen it till like a week ago. Besides musicals are more mainstream than critics fodder.

I’m just torn who to root for btw Taraji and Danielle. Taraji has personality in spades - will always champion her. Danielle going from OITNB to oscar success is ultimate underdog tale.

plenty of films on the lists had gotten screeners way prior to their own release, no reason why Warner wouldn't have done the same w TCB. Nightmare Alley's first screenings/screener got delayed further than expected, but it still made NBR and AFI. its simple both NBR and AFI saw it and didn't think it should be on their lists.

The film hardly has any CGI AND Nolan has made a huge deal about how everything was done practically. Idk why people thought it was some lock ddd :deadbanana4:

That’s plausible. Just offering an alternative scenario. I don’t think these omissions signals its dead in the water. If it misses globes nominations next week, then there’ll be cause for concern.

that's not a thing?? if you can do that for one cat why about others?

part of the marketing for Oppenheimer was that everything was done practically, of course this was gonna happen...

The category is Best Visual Effects, not Best (or Most) Digital Effects.

Movies featuring a significant amount of practical effects belong in this category as well (and certainly have in the past), but Disney pulls so many strings in that branch at this point that even the Best Picture frontrunner gets the boot there before the bakeoff..it's obvious what's at play here

where is the proof of this? give me a source.

and I refer you to my earlier comment, if you can game this category, why aren't Disney films in other categories more often?? y'all aren't making any sense.
