Dark Miracles Posted March 1 Posted March 1 Well damn, Christopher Abbott really gives Poor Things a new jolt in the last 20 minutes. But he is always amazing so shouldn't come as a surprise. He or Dafoe should be up for Supporting Actor, not Ruffalo.
fridayteenage Posted March 2 Posted March 2 (edited) its funny cuz Dafoe seems to specialize in getting nominated for films that the academy ignores otherwise, after Florida project/at eternity's gate; while shadow of the vampire just got makeup along with Dafoe. sorta like Jessica Lange with 4/6 noms: country, sweet dreams, music box, blue sky. WildAmerican Posted March 2 Author Posted March 2 caught Napoleon tonight, deserved its noms, but overall was kinda not that good... great battles, beautiful battles tho
Almodusa Posted March 2 Posted March 2 Just finished The Zone of Interest rewatch and I don’t mind it as much as I did when I first saw it. Still doesn’t do much for me. I think these types of no plot films (like Nomadland) are things I need to watch at home than in theaters.
Donquizote Posted March 2 Posted March 2 Rewatching Blue Valentine now. Michelle's performance ages like fine wine. Yup, she was robbed of Oscar for that performance. Don't @ me 1
Donquizote Posted March 2 Posted March 2 Also, I still can't get over the fact that Michelle was ROBBED at gunpoint for Manchester by the Sea Viola's performance and category fraud in Fences ages like milk 1 1
WildAmerican Posted March 2 Author Posted March 2 Next weekend Best Actress and animated feature are the only questionable categories imo 1

fridayteenage Posted March 2 Posted March 2 i'm inclined to think Michelle williams was also (a distant) runner-up for 2005 too.
Donquizote Posted March 2 Posted March 2 I need Emma to prove herself as a versatile actress and gets out from her comfort zone. Perhaps she should star as a long suffering wife in a drama movie next or as a monster like Charlize Theron in Monster. Only then she deserves that second Oscar
Antisocialites Posted March 2 Posted March 2 finally watched Poor Things, what a fantastic film! now I can rank all BP nominees: 1. Poor Things 2. Anatomy of a Fall 3. The Zone of Interest 4. Barbie 5. Past Lives 6. The Holdovers 7. Killers of the Flower Moon 8. American Fiction 9. Oppenheimer 10. Maestro 2
Donquizote Posted March 2 Posted March 2 Lee is coming for that Best Actress win next year Ready for her campiness during campaign

She can easily snatch that Oscar if she went for supporting instead of lead.
fridayteenage Posted March 3 Posted March 3 (edited) 35% is lead Michelle being in supporting would have been the fraud, its like saying Chastain was supporting in zero dark thirty or theron was supporting for bombshell Only Oscar newbies pretending to be supporting is acceptableish since they never know if its their only chance ever Edited March 3 by fridayteenage

Jaime Lee could still win Oscar even if Michelle went supporting last year Tbh, she didn't deserve to get nominated for that cheap Spielberg's movie.
MAXIMO Posted March 3 Posted March 3 Michelle was giving an SNL level performance, she just got nominated because she was playing Spielberg's mom.
