She has to prove herself as a versatile actress first before winning second Oscar :suburban:

Emma has one of the most varied catalogues of any working actresses. Poor Things itself wouldn't have worked with honestly any other actress because of the wild changes in tone and physicality. If you mean a "versatile" performance has to be screaming and shedding tears then Lily doesn't deserve it either as she gave an (excellent) subtle performance.

Love that Gladstone, Pedro Pascal, and Elizabeth Debicki all upset tonight :clap3:

The awards show as a whole slayed, love Streisand's speech too.

Lily's speech was everything.

Just right in time when AMPAS members are voting :jonny5:

So Lily is the new frontrunner

Or she could be Glenn Close'd. It still feels too close to call.

Crazy to think that Winslet, Blanchett, Lange and so many other legends have only ONE Best Actress Oscar while Emma is gunning for second this year :suburban:

Glenn Close, Bening, and Adams have none.

It might turn off some voters me thinks :suburban:

difference w Gladstone is that at least Killers has visibility and is liked by the Academy, The Wife was a no1curr film carried by narrative that could only drive Close so far

It's definitely a 50/50 race.

Both have their pro-cons.

Stone would have won easily this if she wasn't a winner already, meanwhile bigger issue of Gladstone is her role being basically supporting with a more subtle performance compared to Stone, it's hard to predict who is going to pull the win, I think the difference in votes will be minimal.

Lily will be the second actress to win Best Actress Oscar without BAFTA nomination since Chastain :suburban:

What about Swank

It's holdover for Giamatti. Stone wars still ongoing.

What about her?

Her career doesn't exist after winning Oscar for second time :suburban:

The tightest races of the night being Lead Actress,  Animated Feature,  and Costume Design (and Poor Things could upset in Hair & Makeup over Maestro too).

Awards season continues later today with the Independent Spirit Awards streaming on YouTube at 4:55 PM ET / 1:55 PM ET:

Da'Vine will continue her sweep winning Supporting Performance tomorrow and I see Past Lives or American Fiction winning Feature with either Jeffrey Wright, Andrew Scott, or Greta Lee winning lead performance (hopefully).

Nah, we want Gaga in a Yorgos or Jane Campion movie next, he can finally call Beyoncé for that since he couldn't stop mentioning her lately, can't wait to see the output :suburban:
