I don't understand how Randolph sweeping this season :suburban:

After watching The Color Purple, I thought there's no way that Danielle Brooks is losing Oscar.

But here we are :suburban:

was Anatomy not eligible? cuz :biblio:

No, probably not. You have to be a WGA member to be eligible for nomination.

I watched Killers of The Flower Moon and I enjoyed the first two hours a lot more than the rest of the movie.

The Zone of Interest was really good.

Oppenheimer was incredibly boring.

I liked Anatomy of a Fall but the whole time I was expecting some big reveal or twist at the end and it never came. If you watch other courtroom movies like Primal Fear, A Few Good Men, Fracture, The Lincoln Lawyer(the movie, not the tv series), that's what you get used to.

This. The movie was fine, but they have some nerve advertising it as a “thriller”.

Just remembered Oscar voting begins tomorrow :duca:

Watched American Fiction today. I wasn’t gagging. I liked the ending though. I’ll need to listen to the score by itself but for now I don’t think it’s Oscar win worthy - even the screenplay.

True battle for the Costume Design Oscar between Poor Things & Barbie, but I'm giving Poor Things the edge since it won the BAFTA compared to Barbie's Critics' Choice award win for Costume Design.

Sandra Huller's an actress basically unknown in Hollywood, why she's not winning the Oscar

History repeats itself

Maybe if Emma wasnt in the race, then she would likely had a chance

Just finished The Holdovers and tbh... I didn't get Supporting Actress win from Da'Vine. Not her performance per se, I thought she was pretty good. I just wish she was in it more. Quality over quantity of course, but I wasn't wowed. And I don't think it deserves to win any of the its other nominations. Lovely film though. 7/10

Still need to see The Color Purple and Nyad to determine my personal SA winner.

Her screen time is in the truest form of definition of "Supporting Actress"

Jodie Foster in Nyad is even longer than some Best Actress screen time :rip:

Ugh Godzilla lost its Visual Effects Society Award nomination. The Creator is dominating in general.

Everything’s coming up Nyad. :duca:

Can’t wait for the “does Emma Stone really deserve two wins in her 30s when Annette Bening hasn’t won despite her career being as old as Stone herself?” takes to start rolling in. :duca:

Nyad shouldn't have nominations in any category :hoetenks:

And is it a good or a bad thing that a European film doesn’t lean into Hollywood tropes and clichés? One of Anatomy’s most redeeming qualities is that it dares to remain ambiguous.
