Darling, thread title is misleading.

Murphy and Emma wins at BAFTA really boost their chance for SAG win.

Voting for SAG is still open.

SAG have the chance to do the funniest thing with that Annette Bening nomination

Yup, I believe it's not set in stone for Stone.

Bening is Hollywood royalty with narrative of 5x nominations without win.

We'll see. :suburban:

godma domination!! so happy that she has continued her sweep and we can stop with this narrative that "voters won't go for PT because it's too weird" or "voters won't want to reward her again so soon". she's clearly one of, if not the most, respected actor of her generation and she gave the best performance of the last several years!

Netflix uploaded Oscar nominee Nimona in full to their youtube channel! Won two Annie Awards this weekend—Voice Performance for Chloe Grace Moretz and Best Writing! Highly encourage everyone to check out this queer excellence!

longest bp nominees in the last 60 years:

1. The Irishman

2. Killers of the Flower Moon

if he keeps insisting on 200+ minute Important Films, I can see awards shows continue to shower him with noms but 0 wins

Seen Rye Lane after watching the BAFTAs because it got a nom or two and heard some good rumblings about it.

Bad idea, it very much sucked. :rip:

Glad it lost.

QUESTION FOR ATRL.

If one of the front runners were to lose the oscar.  Who would it be and to whom?

Presumably the front runners are - emma stone, giammati, downey jr and randolph.

I think out of the 4..the most likely one to lose is giammati to Cillian Murphy.

3 of Emi Li's films have won the BA at BAFTA's while scoring 10 Oscar noms:
-LLL
-The Favourite
-PT

I think most would consider Murphy the frontrunner and Giamatti the one who could upset him.

Murphy is the clear frontrunner. Giamatti might potentially upset.

The fact that Emma is coming for another Oscar next year for another Lanthimos's movie "Kinds of Kindness".

We love to see it :suburban:

i doubt that one is gonna get much awards traction. It's a pretty small anthology film

she'll have to wait an extra year or two to win her 3rd in supporting for Yorgos' Save the Green Planet remake

Can we get over 2023/2024 awards season?

I'm ready for the mess for 2024/2025 awards season.

Ready for Gaga and her campiness during campaigning season.

Ready for another "There's 100 people in the room..." and "Have u ever drank water and thought it's wine..." meme :suburban:

Ready for Lee and her method acting :suburban:

Just finished The Holdovers and tbh... I didn't get Supporting Actress win from Da'Vine. Not her performance per se, I thought she was pretty good. I just wish she was in it more. Quality over quantity of course, but I wasn't wowed. And I don't think it deserves to win any of the its other nominations. Lovely film though. 7/10

Still need to see The Color Purple and Nyad to determine my personal SA winner.

My 24/25 season thread will be reopened after the Oscars next month.

The only recent actress with Globe (Drama) + SAG win without Oscar win is Glenn Close.

If Lily wins SAG this Saturday, it will be interesting to watch if she loses Oscar too.

While the 'You made us live here, among the goats' monologue is probably the clear Oscar clip for Legend Sandra, I'd much prefer something else. Their rage without the buildup and the context seem a bit strange, almost acted out (which makes sense in the movie since that b*tch ass husband provoked it to record it, purposedly feeding lines to Queen Voyter).

Maybe right before the time jump, when she practices what she'll say in court and how she'll say it.

"... and Samuel started taking antidepressants. Can we keep that clean, please, Vincent? I would really like to protect him, and his image, and spare Daniel."

"We'll try."

"OK. But it will be like that, I have to, I have to-"

"Yes."

"I have to admit things."

Ahh to think this will be an Oscar-losing performance :cries:
