SAG can be the last awards hurrah for Barbenheimer before Anatomy of OppenThings snatches at the Oscars

21stc, multi-Oscar-winnng films:

IV Peter Jackson: LOTR/LOTR/LOTR, King Kong

III Christopher Nolan: Dark Knight, Inception, Dunkirk

Ang Lee: Crouching Tiger, Brokeback Mountain, Life of Pi

Martin Scorsese: Aviator, Departed, Hugo

David Fincher: Benjamin Button, Social Network, Mank

Nolan should tie Jackson. It'll be interesting to see when it's Fincher's turn, if ever.

It's over for Sandra me thinks.

When Cotillard won Oscar, she also won BAFTA and nominated for SAG.

She will join the pantheon of Oscar worthy foreign language Best Actress nominees that didn't win like:

Fernanda Montenegro - Central Station

Catalina Sandino Moreno - Maria Full Of Grace

Emmanuelle Riva - Amour

Isabelle Huppert - Elle

Yalitiza Aparicio - Roma

Penélope Cruz - Volver & Parallel Mothers

Gladstone is the exact opposite of what SAG likes to award in best actress, maybe the race is fractured enough for her to win but idk I think I'd sooner buy a random Bening or Margot win almost. At least they make sense for the voting body that is SAG. Killers has been borderline irrelevant in the awards race for over a month now

people comparing her to yeoh still (this isn't happening here i don't think but it is elsewhere) are bordering on problématique though. There is nothing in common with their two awards runs except for the fact that they are non-white. Continually lumping them together is weird (and disrespectful to Yeoh since the implication is almost that she won because she was Asian which couldn't be further from the truth)

Is it just me or Da’Vine wasn’t really that good in Holdovers? I mean, her sweeping the season seems kinda excessive.

I was expecting something different from all the hype but….I don’t get it either.

Lily's performance is too subtle for SAG.

The only recent winner who managed to win SAG with subtle performance is Glenn Close.

That's because she was deemed overdue at that time and she's a legend with 8x nominations without win.

Posted

the overdue narrative only goes so far even at SAG & Lily doesn’t come anywhere close, if anything that’d fit Bening

Davine is better and more deserving than them..especially laura. But i feel like her sweeping is quite extra aswell since she never had a real big Oscar scene in my eyes

I wouldn't rule out Diane Warren taking the oscars away from Barbie

Honestly i want this to happen just so they can stop wasting a slot on her every year. So many deserving songs missed out. Lenny deserved a nom this year.

The word 'expert' should not be used at all when it comes to awards, it is not science or math.

It isn’t but there’s precedence, patterns, stats and history, and some pundits wield mastery of. You can tell which journalists, podcasters are indeed experts, just by the way they conduct their interviews or predict the season. It’s quite fascinating.

Emi Li gonna pull a 'Favourite' and be the only win from the film.

Which is honestly embarrassing that Barbie will beat it out in some of the tech categories lbr.

Not that I disagree but Laura at least had a showcase scene and kept up with her castmates. Jamie Lee did absolutely nothing to deserve that award other than being on the overwhelming favorite film.

Emma's performance in Poor Things is amazing. She deserves all the awards

Lily has a supporting role in KotFM. She should've competed in supporting category

I'm perfectly aware of that but still, there can be good movie journalists with a culture in the overall cinema matter, no doubt about that but it is not my point, especially in the last years too many people are define themselves 'Oscar experts' because they do predictions which I find quite ridicolous, Oscar stats are not even that many to remember and easily to check, again doing predictions that end up right doesn't even require special abilities when majority of times who won, won previously the precursors or get nominated and it's in the conversation because they got acclaim by critics.

So definitely a Maestro Vs Poor Things battle for the Makeup & Hair Oscar.   The prosthetics are more impressive in Maestro so I'm still leaning more towards that, and that'll be the only Oscar it has a realistic chance of winning.
