WildAmerican Posted February 8 Author Posted February 8 I wonder if the casting category will lean towards big ensemble pieces like Knives Out/Don't Look Up etc. or if it will focus on movies that find new great talent
WildAmerican Posted February 8 Author Posted February 8 who I'd nominate for Best Casting this year based on this slate of noms: - The Holdovers - Killers of the Flower Moon - Anatomy of a Fall - Past Lives - Society of the Snow 4

After this announcement, they need to announce a stunt category next.

Also, the Original Song submission deadline was before Encanto even came out in theaters, no one knew that song would blow up. When asked about it after, he said Dos Oruguitas embodied the message of the movie while WDTAB was for one character’s arc Oohhh but I just know he was FUMING inside. This probably cost him an Oscar 10 hours ago, Life Savers said: They kicked him to the curb. Disney? In what sense?
fridayteenage Posted February 8 Posted February 8 (edited) Oh eeaao could've won another oscar It'll probably just be bp nominees Look at Emmys: Bear Ted Abbott jury murders Lotus succession last crown yellowjackets Edited February 8 by fridayteenage
Liafen Posted February 8 Posted February 8 Supposed past casting winners EEAAO is probably the most obvious from the past lineup, divine casting (and also it sweeped so) maybe Licorice Pizza? i could see Nomadland w the non-actor choices working beautifully Parasite The Favourite or Roma Three Billboards probably edging out BP winner TSOW with the acting wins ... Moonlight or Manchester By The Sea? This year would be particularly strong w Oppenheimer, Barbie and Poor Things. I'd pull for a Barbie win, but Oppenheimer would probably sweep this
Almodusa Posted February 8 Posted February 8 Casting Society of America/Artios Awards must be happy to become precursors
TheDreamer Posted February 8 Posted February 8 They had the opportunity to add this a few years ago but they decided to add Best Popular Film instead

Staying relevant for modern audiences is an ongoing concern, vs them pleasing a subset of movie makers no outsider/avg viewer cares about. 1
Dark Miracles Posted February 9 Posted February 9 It's too bad his performance isn't even half as good as the legendary JJL's was
RunBoyRun Posted February 9 Posted February 9 Soooo..... who's winning best actress? In my opinion, Emma Stone should get it. I fear it may be like last year. They gave it to Michaelle Yeoh last year when Cate Blanchett gave the better performance to make history. It may be the same thing this year. (No shade, MY deserved it secondly and EEAAO was the better movie.) 1
fridayteenage Posted February 9 Posted February 9 Yeph had the best performance of the year, and it was a lead performance. Luckily the main two us industry awards correctly recognized that 3

It's a competitive year in a good way.
Dark Miracles Posted February 10 Posted February 10 In no way shape or form is EEAAO a better movie than Tár 3 1

sexyback007 Posted February 10 Posted February 10 I hope Emma takes it, she’s proven time and time again that she’s the best of her generation and should definitely match the achievements of icons like Jodie Foster. I actually see the parallels between their careers since Jodie’s also had her share of acclaimed films and crowd pleasers, just like Emma throughout her amazing career. It makes me happy that a performance can be so undeniable that the Academy doesn’t care about the performer being such a recent winner or any of those politics. (And I’m beyond ready for Emma to joke about any envelope with her name on it being destroyed before Best Picture is announced). 1
Donquizote Posted February 10 Posted February 10 Not surprised that Margot won AACTA. They love to award Australian there.
Konril Posted February 10 Posted February 10 AACTA certainly gonna honor their fellow Aussie that got snubbed fron the Oscars. No surprises there.
Donquizote Posted February 10 Posted February 10 It'll be interesting if Claire Foy won BAFTA next week
