Donquizote Posted January 24, 2024 Posted January 24, 2024 Alexander Payne's sexual misconduct is resurfacing on social media. Bradley Cooper's PR machine is working hard me thinks
Donquizote Posted January 24, 2024 Posted January 24, 2024 Only people who don't know how director branch nominates their directors will be surprised with Gerwig's snub
DanyelP23 Posted January 24, 2024 Posted January 24, 2024 I can't wait for the mess that will be the secret Oscar voter ballots that are yearly released.
Almodusa Posted January 24, 2024 Posted January 24, 2024 There being a section on this year’s Oscar Wikipedia page to the snubs
futurenostalgic Posted January 24, 2024 Posted January 24, 2024 + Milo was an undeserved snub all season tbh. 2 2
QueenofCopyPaste Posted January 24, 2024 Posted January 24, 2024 To those who watched Anatomy of a Fall did Sandra Huller Voyter...? Spoiler did it? or was she really innocent and the husband jumped off? ?
its_britney_bitch Posted January 24, 2024 Posted January 24, 2024 I’m sick of the “snub” discourse in general. Nobody is owed anything. Not an Oscar, not a Grammy, not an Emmy, no matter how popular they are
its_britney_bitch Posted January 24, 2024 Posted January 24, 2024 Gen Z are SO stupid. There is no hope

Spoiler Idk what happened, I accidentally hid my reply and not sure you can see it, so again: I read somewhere the writers were planning to include some spectacular plot twist at the end but eventually couldn't come up with anything interesting so they went with the open ending. I believe it doesn't really matter if she killed him or not. The movie's more about how the perception of people can change based on different perspectives and versions of events that are presented to us. Also sometimes we must decide what to believe in. Just like her son who saved her from jail even though he felt she did it. That's why he told her he was scared of her coming back home. 1
X~MoviePoP Posted January 24, 2024 Posted January 24, 2024 When black actresses and directors are snubbed like lupita for US or viola for the woman king ect. no one bats an eye but when barbie ...yknow wut let me keep it cute cause people still arent realising that MARGOT AND GRETA STILL GOT NOMINATED FOR AN OSCAR THIS YEAR IN OTHER CATEGORIES , GOD FORBID THEY LET OTHERS GET RECOGNIZED TOO....smfh 3 1

Hide contents did it? or was she really innocent and the husband jumped off? ? Spoiler Honestly I think she didn't do it. There's no definite, ultimate answer as I think even Triet wasn't preoccupied with a resolution to the case at hand; so it's probably undecided - but to me her characterization and actions scream innocent. We find out she didn't lie about the vomit, and she was adamant that she's not going to wrongfully characterize her dead husband to make herself look more innocent, even snapping at her defense in court. Then the kid's confession on how his father alluded to his sewer cide... It's just all too much. Especially because of a lack of compelling motive for murder. I mean they argued, so what? You don't kill your husband over that. But ngl I thought for a sec that she's going to confess in the pub after they won the case lmao. So glad Triet avoided that cliché 2

He made logical conclusions based on the dog's vomit and his dad alluding to suicide
Blade Runner Posted January 24, 2024 Posted January 24, 2024 It's so funny when the GP gets involved in Oscar conversation. It happens from time to time (and obviously thanks to big movies), but it's always a kii. fjhfg
Blade Runner Posted January 24, 2024 Posted January 24, 2024 Oppy is gonna SWEEP eveything this year just like EEAAO.

That husband was EXTRA af. Spoiler He was being such a drama queen and hamming it up when he was secretly vlogging without Queen Sandra’s consent! What an insecure lowlife riding his wife’s coattails. He thought he ate but Sandra devoured him in every argument he brought up. I also don’t think she did it. I agree that her characterization was straightforward and her character proven honest each and every time, reassuring the audience of her honesty and innocence. Not going to lie, given that the film is all about the power of perspective, I thought the ~grand twist~ or the final scene at the end would’ve been that Snoop was the culprit all along. I thought they were going to take us back to the day of the tragedy, and play it from Snoop’s POV. Edgic-wise, he was getting a lot of suspicious airtime at the start. I’ve said this before but Monster is another phenomenal, overlooked film from 2023 that also masterfully portrays the power of perspective. 1

unclefloprry Posted January 25, 2024 Posted January 25, 2024 Oppenzzzzzz benefited from Barbie in everything, if the movie had been released in any other month it would end like another Nolan movie, just winning the subcategories.

Hide contents did it? or was she really innocent and the husband jumped off? ? Spoiler I don't think the film confirmed it either way. According to the director, she wanted for it to be ambiguous and open to interpretation. I think she toyed with different endings before settling on what's shown in the movie, where she's acquitted, but there are still hints of her guilt. For me, it was all about the discussion between her son and the court monitor: 'It doesn't matter. What matters is the decision you make.' (not her exact words, but it was something to that effect). I think that's what Justine was trying to achieve as well. Edited January 25, 2024 by harwee 1
wesleywalrus Posted January 25, 2024 Posted January 25, 2024 BARBIE is a FUN adventure movie. It was the event of the summer. It was well-made and looked like a Barbie world. Everyone was good in it. Hell I had a great time and liked it. Unlike most people, I think Margot as Barbie stole the film. However I think the monologue was completely unnecessary. The film already said that without saying it. It was a fun time, and deserves some recognition but I don't think it deserves a RETURN OF THE KING slew of awards. Would I be mad if Greta and Margot got in? No. But I don't think it's necessary. We all know comedies have a hard time winning awards. It's nothing new. 3
