Nominations were okay. Haven't seen most of the movies because they aren't available for me yet, but still super excited.

More suprised about the Margot's snub than Greta's. The director's branch is known for being snobs and elitists.

If Ryan somehow becomes the only one to win for this feminist movie I will be absolutely sent to hell :skull:

I still think Margot is a really bad actress tho. The last performance from her that I enjoyed was Once Upon a Time. She seemed fresh, collected and cool there.

He won't win. It'll be Robert Downey Jr.

Ryan won't win. He's 3rd/4th in that category at most. I'm Just Ken can win though (Billie still more likely), which would be an even bigger kii.

If they didn’t nominate Jennifer Aniston for Cake y’all are crazy to think they’d want to be associated with a CW actor. This is the Oscars, performance is like only 10% of a factor in nominations, don’t play dumb

Austin Butlers previous work was Disney Channel, CW and Freeform lol

The only chance Margot can win an Oscar is if she takes a role that makes her look ugly like Charlize Theron in Monster.

Else I don't see her winning without that kind of role :rip:

This is her second time to hit SAG and BAFTA without Oscar nomination.

Wait I thought we were just reacting to Ryan getting his nom

That one Gold Derby editor was so confident previously that Barrino and Cooper would win Oscar although Globes said no :bibliahh:

Wonder where he is now :bibliahh:I rarely see him on podcast anymore.

I'm seeing a lot of performative posting about Gerwig missing on Twitter/Insta, these people probably have no that:

1. Gerwig is probably winning Adapted Screenplay

2. A woman director did get in for a rich, complex, nuanced film that these people have prob never heard of

Spoiler

I wanna clock some of these posts, but it's oomf who's doing it :rip:

Ryan knows that he being nominated is wrong :clap3:

I hope Ryan, Margot, Greta & Dua skip the show.... I feel bad for America

People upset at I’m Just Ken clearly aren’t aware music voters aren’t responsible for acting noms :skull:

American Fiction could very well spoil things for Gerwig and Baumbach. don’t think it’ll be a full sweep for Oppie

Barbie being popular doesn’t mean it’s entitled to anything. If this was 10 years ago it’d only be nominated for costumes lbr :rip:

I think Ryan hates the role and the movie.

Imagine if Annette Benning is this year Glenn Close :deadbanana2:

If she won SAG but ended up losing Oscar to Emma/Sandra.

I'm Just Ken makes total sense as an Oscar nominee as the song serves a clear purpose and it's a key part of Ken's character journey. Don't get why it's confusing for some people.

Close won CC, GG Drama and SAG, while Miss Annette doesn't have the first two.:giraffe:

I kinda need Margot to win SAG, and Huller to win at BAFTA plus another major win at BAFTA for The Zone of Interest where the winner mentions Sandra Huller a lot

Teenage Stan Twitter losing their minds about the Barbie snub; both America and Ryan issuing indulgent eulogies when Margot and Greta are both nominated for Best Picture (the later also for scriptwriting) and are both previous nominees.

The parasocial brain worms getting to everyone. The doll movie was decent if overhyped, made money and was nominated for eight Academy Awards. But now we are complaining they aren’t the right ones? The way we are increasingly treating Ryan Gosling’s Ken as if he is Joe Rogan in disguise undermining the movie from within and not Gerwig writing a memorable character (which again she has been nominated for!). Infantilising.

Anatomy of a Fall is a better and more sophisticated feminist film than Barbie, simple as.

How is Ryan being nominated a gender issue? Margot’s competition was….other women.

Nah. He clearly loved doing the film. I understand his comments (and America's), although they're frankly unnecessary. At the end of the day it's true that it was his acting that received most acclaim from the start (and deservedly so because people often disregard comedic acting in the awards circuit).

Not sure why anyone would be surprised at Ken (song) either. It hit all the precursors and won the CC. It's also a key moment for the film, along with Margot's introspective scene.

????? There's space for both. Feminism is not a monolith.

You don't see this kind of comparison with "men" movies lol

Finally saw the nominees. Ew at the surprise Supporting Actress (Ferrera) and Actress (Bening) nominees. Total wtfs that no one rooted for lol. Justice for the May December ladies and Greta Lee. Also sad for the lack of young Supporting Actor nominees (Sessa and Melton).

Overall, I feel like the nominations were nicely spread out. Still rooting against Oppenheimer.
