Margot had a competitive category but still, Gosling (even if he did deserve it) and especially Ferrera being nominated while she, the Barbie, is snubbed is a mess :deadbanana4:

KOTFM underperformed a bit so Emma is probably taking it, but Huller and Gladstone could still win depending what happens with BAFTA and SAG.

For Anatomy of a Fall, Milo Machado Graner and Messi the Border Collie deserved Best Supporting Actor Nominations.

I mean, that dog played dead convincingly.

How you gonna snub Fantasia but still nominate that Ryan mess? These mediocre white men will never fade.

Barbie getting several nominations in other categories but not for the actress who stars as Barbie feels like a very pointed and deliberate snub. Would not blame her if she took it personally. :hoetenks:

i know melton's chances have been shot for weeks and sessa was a complete outlier longshot, but i do find it kind of bizarre how the academy loves a newcomer or young ingenue narrative for actress/supporting actress but will only take up for veterans in the actor/supporting actor.

happy at anatomy's overperformance. not mad at annette benning or jodie foster sneaks despite the fact that i will never watch that movie. needed the barbie snubs to go a bit further

The Eternal Memory :heart2:

Beautiful film,  all of Chile must be proud of seeing that nominated. I think it'll go to 20 Days In Mariupol for the Documentary Feature win though.

Saltburns total miss was interesting, given that it was popular with the gp and scored solidly with globes and baftas

Tho I suppose the olds among the voters were never going to accept it

May December crashed so hard, it's a little strange.

i know todd haynes and the cast bristle at the movie being called camp, but haynes has an innate camp sensibility in all his films that the academy voters really hate for whatever reason. or maybe he's annoying in the rooms, i don't know.

All the new Academy members will be splitting votes on the STONEs and the Old Academy will lead ANNETTE BENING to her very overdue win

Margot missing and Ryan being in is almost poetic. You can't make this up.

Margot being at her lowest last season with 2 huge bomb projects and being snubbed (despite deserving to get in) for Babylon only to have a HUGE year and do the most promo possible and still get snubbed again :deadbanana:

I mean nr of nominations matter but considering she wasn't win-competitve (or even deserving of a nomination IMHO), this will play well in her favor in the long run, possibly strengthening her next Oscar campaign

Sandra PLEASE pull through

Also they should’ve nominated that fruity lawyer in the movie, he made my blood boil

Where the hell is Meryl though?

I remember she got in in almost every year :suburban:

Next year Best Actress will be bloodbath.

I'm ready for Gaga to campaign and her campiness :suburban:

I mean he received many other noms not sure what his previous role in Riverdale has to do with the Oscars. Didnt he get nominated for Peoples Choice, Golden Globes, Critics Choice and more?

What does his previous work have to do with his objectively great performance in this film? :rip:

If they didn’t nominate Jennifer Aniston for Cake y’all are crazy to think they’d want to be associated with a CW actor. This is the Oscars, performance is like only 10% of a factor in nominations, don’t play dumb

The fact that Gold Derby editors can't let go of Bradley Cooper and they still predict him to win for Maestro

Why are people surprised Gerwig is snubbed for Director?

The director branch is the most snobbish branch for AMPAS and consists of toxic men with huge masculinity complex.

They won't nominate a female director who directs pink movie.

Austin isn’t primarily known/associated with The CW, he was a regular on one short-lived CW flop a decade ago :rip: and had done serious roles before Elvis. He also didn’t win
