Donquizote Posted January 19 Posted January 19 Mulligan is the best thing for that horrible cheap TAR movie. It will be quite devastating if Robbie made it, but Mulligan got snubbed
hausofdave Posted January 19 Posted January 19 Stone/Gladstone/Hüller/Mulligan/Robbie Aunjanue Ellis seems like the consensus 5, but will the apparently obvious be actually real?
Mr. Duff Posted January 19 Posted January 19 Margot Robbie to be Adams’d for Greta Lee, yes here for it 2
Kylizzle Posted January 19 Posted January 19 It sucks that Natalie Portman is so overlooked this season. Her mirror scene alone >>> everything Margot did in Barbie 8 1

People always mention in Awards discussion that she's pretty horrible I heard about this only on certain awards boards, specifically Goldderby where there are tones of trolls with no moderation, the season she was in contention for 'The Wife' she had a very dedicated hater over there saying it and it was the only user predicting her not Oscar win that time, but I don't think there is any real evidence of this, I only know about a feud she had with Patty Lupone because she took her role on Broadway on 'Sunset Boulevard' but Patty Lupone (that personally I adore) is well notorious to feud-beef with tones of people so I don't think Close was the issue. If anything, despite some media trying to insinuate she was hating Gaga on that season, she has started following Gaga on IG after the season was over and I often saw her between the likes of her posts. I don't think she would have had that standing ovation that time she won the Globe for 'the Wife' if that was the case, I think she's a very respected actress in the industry and undeniably talented with iconic roles, she just has been unlucky in not winning.
Lovett Posted January 19 Posted January 19 Just watched Poor Things and wow. I'm not surprised Emma is snatching everything. What a performance! The film was absolutely insane, I loved it. 3
wesleywalrus Posted January 19 Posted January 19 I was just thinking the other day why my Jewish king hasn't got a job BA 2026 2
MAXIMO Posted January 20 Posted January 20 I will never enjoy a Yorgos film in its entirerity, I don't get him, Poor Things was just Yorgos being weird just for the sake of it. I enjoyed the visuals and definitely Emma Stone's performance, she's clearly the one who is doing the most acting in her lineup, I don't think she deserves the win, but I won't be mad. 2

I'll drive an hour if I have to. 25 theaters last week, 82 theaters this week. idk if any are near you though. I'm assuming it'll expand more after Oscar noms so it can use that as promo.
Liafen Posted January 20 Posted January 20 Still amazed by her performance. GoldDerby users seem to be Little Voysters too! 2

truthteller Posted January 20 Posted January 20 the Holdovers is cute and intimate. really appreciate the throw-back style/aesthetics and the modern twist. they really pull of the old timey vibe without compiling all the cliches and overly dramatic performances 3
Arcadius Posted January 20 Posted January 20 I’d kinda gag if “I’m Just Ken” snatched the Oscar. Not like Billie needs it and it’d still be for Barbie.

teresaguidice Posted January 20 Posted January 20 poor things was excellent. i loved the favourite but am happy yorgos went back to his vision and pulled away from the more mainstream path it seemed he was on. the holdovers is the real sneak by the awards bodies. i won't argue that the leads are all quite good, but the script is so saccharine and obvious, the final 20 minutes especially. unrelenting pastiche with nothing new, down to the filter trying to make it look like it was shot on film. i know i shouldn't be shocked that awards bodies like a film like this that's simple and goes down smooth, but i really expected more from alexander payne. oh well.

Kylizzle Posted January 20 Posted January 20 (edited) I'm Just Ken is a funny moment but if we're evaluating actual song quality... it sucks. Billie deserves that second Oscar. Edited January 20 by Kylizzle
