ESV did 2x the numbers PH did so that's a win to me
Truth Teller Posted March 12, 2023 Posted March 12, 2023 I had her at 110-120k so I think that's fine. She underperformed in streams and overperformed in sales, but it's a fine start. No idea how people expected 200k+

Jooj Posted March 12, 2023 Posted March 12, 2023 Thats exactly what i expected for Miley, but i hope she overperforms and ends up with 150k I hope SZA or someone else ends up knocking that morgan dude from #1 in the long run
slw84 Posted March 12, 2023 Posted March 12, 2023 SHe should have no problem going platinum but not sure this will end up 2x platinum. Her team better not mess up the rest of this era. Even if not a smash and can still end up as respectable. Either way, a great return single wise for Miley. They'll just need to give Rivers and that Brandi song a push...not sure if there are any other songs that could be big
KingWitch Posted March 12, 2023 Posted March 12, 2023 Impressive pure sales for Miley ,thought she would do Gloria numbers with the tiktoked song but great numbers
James_Joint Posted March 12, 2023 Posted March 12, 2023 I hate that Miley’s not getting the #1 debut because the album will look like SUCH an underperformance now- when in actuality it’s like a 300% increase and still reflects her having a commercial re-peak

Sscorpionn Posted March 12, 2023 Posted March 12, 2023 Apple Music US: #8. “Flowers” (+2) #74. “Jaded” (-2) #79. “River” (=) #117. “Rose Colored Lenses” (-9) #125. “Thousand Miles” (-8) #144. “You” (-13) #170. “Muddy Feet” (-10) #177. “Violet Chemistry” (-14) #182. “Handstand” (-24) OUT. Wildcard OUT. Island OUT. Wonder Woman iTunes US: 2. Endless Summer Vacation (-1) This is BAD. She might not even clear 100k if it keeps declining at this rate

Whether or not they’re ~organic~ is one thing (which isn’t a Korean specific thing that’s happening lol), but they’re still coming from actual US fans... which they have a lot of. I care very little about Twice but they also play stadiums worldwide. Certain people have such a visceral reaction every single time Korean acts chart well in the US. I wonder why.

1989 Posted March 12, 2023 Posted March 12, 2023 I predicted 150k just off of Flowers’ performance and the goodwill she amassed with Plastic Hearts, so this is about right. Plus, it could still rise.
Bethenny Frankel Posted March 13, 2023 Posted March 13, 2023 This is a successful era no matter how it shapes out. She got her biggest hit ever and increased the pure sales dramatically. Miley won!

Would you mind sharing your sources/evidence?

The numbers are TERRIBLE! The streaming numbers for Flowers were a fraud and this further solidifies that. You didn't "solidify" anything There are many songs that smashed as big and even bigger than Flowers, and had parent albums that did lower numbers than ESV. A few of them: Song: Uptown Funk - #1 for 14 weeks Hot 100, 20x platinum, #1 year-end 2015, #5 all-time chart Album: Uptown Special - debut week 76k (30k pure) Song: Party Rock Anthem - #1 all-time song in Billboard history Album: Sorry for Party Rocking - debut week 27k, total worldwide sales 1m Song: Closer - #1 for 12 weeks Hot 100, 15x platinum, #4 song of the decade, #14 all-time Album: Collage - debut week 39k (9k pure) Edited March 13, 2023 by PoisonPill
pride4jc1222 Posted March 13, 2023 Posted March 13, 2023 Uptown Funk is close to 20x platinum by now, if not already passed it. It's only officially at 12x platinum because its certification hasn't been updated since late 2016.

Miley is more or less a household name. The fact she is even grouped with these one hit wonders to make her numbers seem less bad is EMBARRASSING how can someone of her calibre and name recognition snatch such a mega hit like flowers and have the album BOMB like this
