Yeah now THIS is suspicious. Small Talk is one of the biggest bombs in pop history. Obviously it was placed at #1 on Today's Top Hits via payment.

Do you have a brain? It was placed at #1 on TTH the day of release, like most major releases. Do you think it went #1 on TTH after being out for a month not in Top 200?

Alright let's stay in reality, autoplay helps but it can't work miracles

Is there a legal way to force Spotify to report autoplayed numbers so that they’re not counted for the charts?

why are people so serious over this? you guys want to make everything into a big issue smh

Too bad Katy won't use this..greedy *****!

What makes people think there will be regulations? They still haven't fixed the mass/bulk buying of songs (or 400302 remixes) by fans through artists' websites.

Katy got quite a lot of autoplay support on YouTube over the years, so might not need as much on Spotify as others.

No one is being serious. This is the charts section of a music forum, if that doesn’t give you a hint…

Taylor is the most payola'd act of all time.

If you only knew the tricks artists pulled in the 90s-early 00s when radio basically dictated what was a hit and what wasn’t. If a mainstream song “flopped” it was because radio blacklisted it or because the label couldn’t afford to pay anymore payola.

And why is everyone focusing on Ariana when it's crystal clear that Midnights was algorithmically boosted as well? Not just one song but that entire album was clearly payola'd onto everything. I don't even listen to her music and got a big banner update telling me her album was out, with a "listen now?" button or something like that to take me straight to it. Taylor is the most payola'd act of all time.

It's known that I'm not Taylor's biggest fan but I think everyone who stans mainstream artists needs to collectively sit down because we can all pull on each other's wigs. Literally all artists who have the potential of reaching big numbers have had some sort of help by Spotify boosted by their label's $$$, we're gonna have to sit down and analyze who had more or less and it's impossible with zero actual information.

If your song doesn't hit it won't hit it doesn't matter how much payola your label puts on Spotify. Niall Horan tried to do it with his new song for a week and it failed colossally.

It did nothing for him on other platforms and the song still charted outside of top 60 that week.

Payola alone can do absolutely nothing. The artists still have to have impact and the songs have to resonate with the audience.
