From my anecdotal experience, Taiwan feels too low and Brazil and the US are too high.

i think when it comes to brazil it really depends where u are.

sometimes i feel very safe here to the point i even forget homophobia is still a thing (for ex: a bar in rio, são paulo, or even my city vitoria-es)

sometimes i'm afraid. i think if we're talking about turism, brazil is a ""safe"" place for lgbt+ if the person searches well where to go and what places to attend.

Why is Paraguay under China :deadbanana2:?? What's wrong in that country :toofunny3:??

Also, not Cuba being one of the 'safest' ones from Latin America :gaycat6:

Call me naive, but I was stunned at how low South Korea was on here.

Well, it's noticeable how much heteronormativity is pushed in their music videos, dramas, etc.

Chile above Uruguay??? Idk about that, although the most people here would do normally is stare at you.

You can’t tell me that UAE is worse than Afghanistan, Sierra Leone etc. Like please be real.

42, but not important. But yes, I was expecting Mexico to be much worse, and it isn't that bad. Imho.

There's massive blind spots in this kind of data collection that one could argue renders the whole list faulty, as I pointed out already.

Still thought it was worth posting. Idk.

I mean while UAE is not LGBTQ+ friendly (on paper at least, real life is much different but that’s a whole other topic) it is ridiculous to suggest it is worse than a place where they regularly and publicly hang members of the LGBTQ+ population.

I feel much safer in UAE than in my own country that somehow ranked just out of top 50.

Could someone explain why Greenland and North Korea are gray? Does it just mean unknown or no general consensus? I feel dumb :deadbanana2:

Cuba is actually pretty LGBTQ friendly, even in smaller villages, maybe they don’t embrace it in some places like Canada might but for the most part people don’t really give a ****

I’m actually surprised the US is so far above Mexico, both places honestly seem closer together as far as how LGBTQ friendly they are especially considering the urban vs rural areas

Only like 50 of these countries are good for living, at most imo

altho my country is outside it :deadbanana: but I feel some countries are in the wrong spot

South Korea is extremely homophobic but they don't go around killing and torturing gays. They are highly highly against abuse, bullying etc so the gays are pretty much safe there. Also they're really civilised

Exactly why I would think they should be higher :dies: definitely more than a Lot of Eastern European countries

I don't like how this data is laid out because it makes it seem like all of the US is worse than Canada which is just not true :skull: There's undoubtedly a higher likelihood of two men holding hands being called f*gs on the streets of a hick town in Alberta than a wealthy liberal suburb in California.

Like it would take more time but it would be more interesting and useful to sort it out by regions of countries, especially for people traveling to know for example that Puerto Vallarta is very gay-friendly while most other parts of Mexico are much less safe.

I'm surprised my country (India) is that high:giraffe:

How is America so high when it seems like every day another state is creating new anti LGBTQ+ legislation?
