The premise of some of this, including countries in active civil war or occupation is absurd, but I was already halfway through making this and figured I'd post it anyways :deadbanana: I still find some of it interesting. :coffee2:

Also when it comes to letter grades (on the site), the difference between countries near each other on this list is in some cases only a point or two - just for perspective.

If Spain is not #1 then the list is automatically inaccurate!

South Africa at #16? Yeah, sure

Clearly I need to do more research. I would anyways for any country I travel to regardless - at which point I would've found this out.

But what if you're LGBTQ+ and Black. What are the safest places? Because I think that I might experience racism in some places that are usually considered safe for lgbtq+ and vice versa. :dancehall:

Important point to unpack - for many race is obviously more front of mind, but that can't discount any non-conforming people that would be bashed or discriminated against regardless of their ID or race - and for that, these criteria of this list are wildly subjective and arbitrary.

South Korea is extremely homophobic but they don't go around killing and torturing gays. They are highly highly against abuse, bullying etc so the gays are pretty much safe there. Also they're really civilised

Oh I would agree with that and I'm not even black :rip: I thought that was common knowledge with POC :doc:

Screaming that a certain Communist militant-LGBT-activist ATRLer’s favourite countries are all shaded DARK PURPLE or BLACK. What’s up with that?

I was expecting Philippines to rank better tbh. :dancehall:
