Marianne Williamson responds to Biden's Press Secretary smug comment on her candidacy

So far the only route centrist Dems have to criticize Marianne is to belittle and mock her, because they know that when it comes down to actual issues Marianne has far more progressive and popular stances than old Joe Biden. Go on though, keep not taking her seriously, just like you did with Trump in 2016!

and i KNOW Biden supporters in here aren’t trying to make this about race, your man PENNED the ‘94 crime bill that keeps black incarceration rates sky high to this day :deadbanana: glass houses please!

Okay North Korea.

Why doesn't Joe Biden just support universal healthcare if a primary challenge gets some of you this mad? :deadbanana4:

If Marianne's supposed unseriousness is her character flaw then it's hypocritical to counter that with an unserious press secretary. And I mean, you can have a light-hearted moment here and there. But I don't think this was the last time that they'll bring up the crystal ball thing.

Why are you going so hard for someone who has NO chance at winning the presidency? :deadbanana4:

Marianne who supports reparations being labelled anti-black, and the randomness of how it was pulled out from nowhere in that meltdown essay, the cringe of reading through it all ksksjhdfhj :deadbanana2: right-wing Democrats are so embarrassing

😂 every press secretary has joked.

they sure have

Speakes's comments on the HIV/AIDS epidemic in the 1980s have been criticized. During press briefings over the course of several years, reporter Lester Kinsolvingasked Speakes what response, if any, the administration had to the developing crisis. On most of these occasions, Speakes and the White House press corps responded with homophobic jokes, laughter, and disinterest, responses that have been pointed to as symbols of the Reagan administration's slow response to the epidemic.[9][10][11][12]

Sis, accusing progressives of being antiblack for criticizing the Democratoc establishment didn't work in 2016 or 2020 and isn't going to work in 2024. Especially not when the progressives you hate have largely non-white and black support.

The new Morning Consult poll shows Marianne polls best with black voters under 30. :skull:

She polls worst with white voters. I imagine we can see that from how most of you have spent the last few days deliriously screaming over an issues candidate challenging Biden from the left.

Who cares what she is polling? She just accused a black woman of something she did not do and implied firing her for it.

Is her middle name Karen? Because that, I want to talk to the manager about the help, reply was disgusting.

Imagine if I used a poll of how Biden is polling to excuse him of anything. :bibliahh:

The way you guys would destroy me.

Yeah, back in the 80s and early 90s when there was literally no treatment whatsoever for AIDS so the only option left was prayers to keep AIDS patients in good spirits :deadbanana4:

I'm sure there are plenty of valid critiques of her ideas and her past, but this is not one of them that can be made in good faith.

She was doing everything she could to raise their spirits in a time when no cure existed..

Johnny Schaefer, a 57-year-old singer-songwriter in Los Angeles, was introduced to Williamson by a friend with AIDS in the ’80s. “At the time, there was nothing else,” he told me. There was no scientific response to AIDS, so nonscientific responses filled the gap. People were turning to meditation, prayer, Eastern medical traditions, and nutrition.

But Williamson wasn’t anti-medicine or anti-science, Schaefer says. “For many of us, you pray, and one of the ways God responds is through medicine and science,” he said. “It’s not one or the other. … We used to pray for a medical solution to AIDS,” and when AZT finally showed promise as a treatment for HIV, “Marianne embraced it. We all did.”

The article you posted highlights that she was fundraising and hosting AIDS supports groups in the ‘90s. What other politicians can say the same? Joe Biden and his ilk were happy to let us die in the same time period. Another quote from your article:

Schaefer, the gay son of a Lutheran minister, came from an “ultra-conservative” town, and says Williamson was one of “the only ones telling gay people they were loved.”

I really don’t know what you thought you did by posting this article other than prove that Marianne is a more dedicated ally to our community than any of her opponents

You're a troll who is yet again spending another presidential primary attacking the sole candidate who supports universal healthcare. Why is that? Why lie like this?

A good number of Williamson’s detractors have cited quotes from her book A Return to Love. The volume, a companion piece to A Course in Miracles, was published in 1992, before the advent of the antiretroviral drug cocktails that drastically improved AIDS prognoses and extended HIV-positive life expectancies. At the time, Williamson taught her followers with AIDS to use spiritual means to cope with the disease that had left them shunned by the medical establishment, without effective treatment, and with little reliable information about what was happening to their bodies. She had people with AIDS write letters to the virus inside them and imagine how the virus would respond.

For some, though, they were an essential source of solace in a moment marked by paranoia, loneliness, and grief.

I'm literally the most cynical atheist possible but mocking religious people for praying for strength from God in face of AIDs or cancer is one of the lowest and most miserable things you can do.

You don't think Biden, a staunch Catholic, prays to God for guidance and strength?

David Kessler, an author on grief who worked with Williamson on her nonprofit Project Angel Food—Williamson has called him “the yang to my yin”—wrote in a Medium post that he saw her drive men to the doctor and pay for their AIDS medication herself.

Quote

Schaefer, the gay son of a Lutheran minister, came from an “ultra-conservative” town, and says Williamson was one of “the only ones telling gay people they were loved.” “When I was a kid, I literally feared I was the Antichrist, because I thought I was so evil God couldn’t love me,” he said. “Marianne taught me that was absurd and that God loves me exactly as I am.” As a volunteer for one of Project Angel Food’s programs, Project Nightlight, Schaefer says he sat with Williamson and other volunteers at the bedsides of AIDS patients nearing death. They’d sing, or just bear witness. “Marianne called us ‘midwives to the dying,’ ” Schaefer said. He credits the experience with helping him to grieve for the friends he was losing and to trust that they were peacefully transitioning to a better plane of existence.

The way that people who supported establishment candidates in 2016 and 2020 who could barely bring themselves for decades to support gay marriage want you to think this woman somehow harmed gay men because she offered the only thing she knew, her own spirituality, as some hopeful kind of tool to help those cope with the horrors of AIDs.

One has to ask - why is that? What personal biases are at work? Why is it largely the affluent and wealthy who get so mad when there's a candidate who centers their candidacy on universal healthcare and that no one should die for being poor? Look at the users attacking Marianne - what is their likely financial background? Why do people who are always in their income bracket never want us questioning why Dems won't do more?

if we hold her accountable to her prior beliefs like many on here do with other politicians this is disqualifying.

You genuinely contribute nothing of worth in constantly posting wrong, infactual things and should be banned for being a troll. :skull:
