Oh yeah, this was the era he was going on about "evil pop":

Quote

"The one thing that I've tried to keep intact in this whole thing is, you know, a basis on songwriting," Swift told Antonoff. "I didn't want to make a pop album and all of a sudden place my priority on a bunch of weird sounds that will get stuck in people's heads, but they won't know why they're stuck in their head."

"Evil pop is when you're singing something in your head," Swift continued, "and it's like a 'oh' or a 'ooh' and you don't know why because it's brainless."

Lily Allen catching that stray was so unnecessary and unprovoked though.

:rip: like Wildest Dreams didn’t have those mindless “ah ahh”s or Shake It Off didn’t have the most lobotomized sloganeering in the place of lyrics. Her PR people who feed her talking points are the real evils here

Of course he did, that’s when the first Bleachers Album was released…

Tbh I had completely forgotten about Bleachers :rip: I was thinking this was immediately post-fun.

“Throwaway music” then proceeds to make Reputation, Lover, Midnights and solar power which also are “Throwaway music”.

He has been getting getting caught using the same formula or same beat for different songs and artists. :deadbanana4:

both gaga and katy have more diverse and exciting discographies than this man. :rip: everything he does sounds the same.

I was thinking the same thing, those are clear cut offenders of this, even Out of the Woods, which Jack produced, is a lazy repetitive bomb.

Like, stan wars aside, when really thinking about this, this was just disrespectful - especially about two female artists who have never mentioned him or said anything bad about him publicly. All just to brown nose a meal ticket. What a pathetic clout chaser. If you don't listen to Teenage Dream and The Fame/The Fame Monster and come away at least a bit elated, I don't know what to say to you.

Well he was entitled to his opinion, which ended up being wrong. I mean he produced Reputation, the definition of throwaway. Katy and Gaga are  still pulling numbers from their back catalogue, and are clearly kept dear in the hearts of the general public.

This. Even thinking just recently, Bloody Mary being rediscovered by the youths on TikTok proves him wrong.

Solar Power is just as panned as most of Perry's music anyhow.

He even ruined what could have been a beautifully sublime song (Fallen Fruit) with some unnecessary noise. He's not talented enough to be talking about anyone and should humble himself (I doubt any of the backlash even got to him, and he probably still thinks highly of himself & all his productions).
