Cloröx Posted February 28, 2023 Posted February 28, 2023 I do, usually the bread as long as there's no mold
ichabe Posted February 28, 2023 Posted February 28, 2023 Yes , it’s considered safe here, especially if you place it on the refrigerator you can extend into several days or weeks. For instance, palm oil that I bought expired last week and it’s still definitely in a good shape and condition.
bliaz Posted February 28, 2023 Posted February 28, 2023 Bread, sometimes, only if it is a couple of days overdue.
305 Posted February 28, 2023 Posted February 28, 2023 Most of the time the stuff isn't even expired and lasts a few more days than the printed date. Sometimes even longer
Johnny Jacobs Posted February 28, 2023 Posted February 28, 2023 Never.. + I have colitis too so im not taking risks
Helios Posted February 28, 2023 Posted February 28, 2023 I probably have but very rarely im terrified of getting food poisoning. Like even if its a few days from expiring im already giving it a side eye.
Take Me Apart Posted February 28, 2023 Posted February 28, 2023 not meat or fish but everything else yeah i can go a week past expiration date
Sombre Posted February 28, 2023 Posted February 28, 2023 Some things, yeah. Canned stuff for instance. Anything with diary is an instant throw though.
May Posted February 28, 2023 Posted February 28, 2023 (edited) one time during university i was so poor that my housemate had a domino’s pizza under his bed (he had been at his parents for the past month) and i took it and microwaved it and ate it all . it actually tasted brand new despite being over a month old which i was shocked about Edited February 28, 2023 by May
samsclubPRESENTSavam Posted February 28, 2023 Posted February 28, 2023 if it's something canned (within reason of course) or processed like a box of crackers I would. but I wouldn't mess around with dairy or seafood.
Alldeezy Posted February 28, 2023 Posted February 28, 2023 Nope I even hesitate when It expires on the day or day before

kandicha Posted February 28, 2023 Posted February 28, 2023 I’ll eat most things if they’re only slightly expired and still smell okay , but not dairy.
Martyr Of Fame Posted February 28, 2023 Posted February 28, 2023 There’s a difference between best by and use by dates. The latter, no.
flower moon Posted February 28, 2023 Posted February 28, 2023 depends what it is. if it looks good and smells okay, its fine. im mostly wary of meat tho
Bey_Rihstan Posted February 28, 2023 Posted February 28, 2023 No. I rarely come across expired food. I’m really anal about checking expiration dates before even leaving the store sssddxv
ToMmY Posted February 28, 2023 Posted February 28, 2023 As a general rule the more water a product has the more dangerous should be to consume past its expiration date, so it really depends. As a cook I kinda have learned for how long I can use a product after its expiration date. A few days ago I used an unopened heavy cream can that expired last month to cook and it was perfectly fine. I know people who have used it even up to three or four months after the expiration date and nothing bad happens. I would never ever eat/cook any kind of meat that started looking/smelling weird or that has a slimy texture, especially pork. No ma'am. On the other hand, for example, I would use sugar that 'expired' I don't know... 5 years ago and I'm 100% sure nothing will be wrong with it.
TROJAN Posted February 28, 2023 Posted February 28, 2023 Maybe bread if it’s 1-2 days after Best By date, but other than that, no.
wastedpotential Posted February 28, 2023 Posted February 28, 2023 It just depends on what it is and how it looks/smells. I'm not going to immediately throw something out if it's a day past expiration and still looks fine, but I'm also not going to risk anything.
TROPICUM Posted February 28, 2023 Posted February 28, 2023 As the icon and legendary chef Claire Saffitz once said, if it looks and smells normal then it's most likely good for consumption no matter the exp. date.
