The way the police treated her is disgusting. Lack of empathy and morals.

She was initially at the hospital, and was released when the doctors didn't find anything. She refused to leave, necessitating the police call. She was technically trespassing. If you go to a medical facility in the US, they by law have to treat you. Every emergency room waiting area I have been in has prominent signage stating what care everyone has the right to, no matter the ability to pay for it.  If they don't, they can be cut off from government money, and no medical facility wants to get payment for their medicare patients stopped.

The question here is why was she discharged from doctor care and then soon afterwards died. As far as the police, they had just picked her up from a hospital where the doctors said she was ok to leave. Until she went unresponsive, they had no idea if her protests were genuine or put on just to get back into the hospital.

The American healthcare system is a damn joke. Even if you have insurance they want to get you in and out as quickly as possible. A lot of the time they ignore people's worries and complaints.

Why did she need to die for to be taken seriously when she said she wasn't feeling well? It's beyond clear from the video that she was experiencing abject distress and pain.

The hospital is incompetent, how could they have discharged her? :biblio:
