It is easier, it's not an issue of competition. Albums and songs are more stable with streaming, because the same people can keep streaming the same song for months while in the past you only had to buy it once.

On the other hand pure sales fueled record sales based on one hit song that weren’t available as separate purchases (be it as a physical single or digital copy). As a consequence we have records that were big at time of release but had zero staying power as complete works and filled the second hand cd bins the next few years.
 

Streaming is a way better indicator of long-term music consumption. If these older records are stable in the charts is because people are still consuming the songs way past their hits and new users are discovering the projects. There are plenty of records with a streaming hit and no chart longevity, nowhere to be found in B200.
