it will be interesting to see if it helps. 3k USD is a lot in China (especially for the poorer families).

Do you know what exactly the spending power difference is?

A one time payment? :bibliahh:

China and Japan trying to slap a bandaid over a water leak right these weak incentives.  I’m sure the US will be in the same predicament in a few decades if things keep going the way they are.

I would take the money and claim infertility

Unless they want proof

In which case whoever is willing to loan me their baby for the third child photo-op will get 40%

The fertility rate was insanely low right now and it's not looking good in the long run because this means less active workforce to generate revenue and more people will be on pension in the future.

I believe India population will surpass China population very soon.

That’s like no money at all, and way too late. Maybe it would have worked 30 years ago

3K won’t even cover the cost of diapers :rip:. The world is overpopulated starting with china.

Every couple need max one or two children, given them best quality of life and education, it’s enough already, more than that u would be crossing limits.

That's peanuts in comparison to the costs of raising a child till age of 18.

Quote

Beijing-based YuWa Population Research Institute said in a report published on Tuesday that the average cost of raising a child to the age of 18 in China in 2019 stood at 485,000 yuan ($76,629) for a first child, 6.9 times China's per capita GDP that year.

China ranks second highest among the 13 countries included in the study, behind only South Korea, which has the lowest birth rate in the world. The U.S. figure, based on 2015 data, stood at 4.11 times per capita GDP while Japan's figure, based on 2010 data stood at 4.26.

Child rearing costs are even higher in China's major cities, reaching more than 1 million yuan in Shanghai and 969,000 yuan in Beijing. Birth rates in the two cities are even lower than the national average.

https://www.reuters.com/world/china/chinas-child-rearing-costs-far-outstrip-us-japan-research-2022-02-23/

If all the poor regions are including the average is 76.6k dollar and in the big cities, it's over 150k dollar.

In comparison to their GDP per capita, the national average in China +68% more expensive than the US. Kids are in China a bigger drain on their smaller economy per person and their wage, income derived from it.

Minimum wage in China is around $250 USD, while in the US it's around $1k USD. Getting $2.9k in there would be like getting 10 months of income.

I still don't think it would work, if they want citizens to have bigger families, there's too many layers in there and it just doesn't get solved by giving money away. First, they need to build envoironments where people would actually want to make a family, same with Japan, Spain and other countries struggling with this problem.
