Even Tim Ryan was as moderate and popular as one could be. He worked tirelessly on the ground here and did everything to appeal to the right. It was truly impressive how hard he worked on the ground and everywhere. And it showed in that he performed extremely better than most other big name democrats on the ticket. But it still wasn't enough. I am not sure if proper funding/support from Nancy and such would have been enough, but that also could have played in. National Dems have given up on Ohio sadly. But also for most of the election Vance did not even TRY. Not even one ounce. And last minute Republicans funneled tons in because Ryan was vastly more popular in polls. And he still won by a few hundred thousand almost doing nothing. And now people here are mad that he is talking about what politicians should be doing to help Ohio with the East Palestine train stuff while he IS the politician elected to do that. No matter what Tim Ryan did wrong or you don't like him, I guarantee he would be loud as hell right now and even on the ground helping. I love Ohio being my home, but people here are really getting what they deserve, at least in relation to the political landscape and it's problems its causing us to fall as a state, not the East Palestine people. no one should die of suffer health harm because of who they vote for. As for changing demographics, it also is looking bleak. First of all, Ohio has become a meme state now because of TikTok. The "Only in Ohio" jokes have made the state into some rural freak land and it is not. Less youth and blue voters will genuinely not consider moving here cause of that. Like most states, most is rural with a few big cities. And the big cities are generally not bad. But that is also the other bad point. Rural populations have decreased, and census shows an increase in big city counties, which seems good on paper, but it really isn't. Our blue counties still consist of a fair portion of red voters and semi-rural suburban areas. And those semi-rural suburban parts of the blue counties are what is filling up, which tends to skew more republican voters than more democrat voters. On top of it the Republican dominating government does not make it an appealing place for Democrats to move. Our current hopes are the Republican party is doing and looking very bad and that may be enough to help swing voters, the cost of living/taxes are generally very low compared to other states which may help people struggling financially, and our job market is still very strong and healthy and may attract young workers. On top of it we are in the process of getting the next massive Amazon location and we are currently working on building the largest Intel business location in the world. That may help attract blue workers/young people seeking jobs, though it's not guaranteed. But it's definitely gonna probably be awhile before any change is possibly seen :( Wow, thank you for the insight. I can tell you truly love your state and only want the best for it. As long as there are people like you there I think there is still hope for the state.
