is this a ciara left over? because it sounds like it

Posted

Hopefully it doesn’t have weird production like Treat Me. Where it wants to be Upbeat and ands wants to be a slowbanger

Posted

Sounds like a bop :katie2:

who is her label/management? for someone who doesn’t perform well at all she seems to have a heavy push? there are other rnb girlies who’s songs trend more than hers, twitter and tiktok objectively like more than her, yet she seems to be talked about everywhere… beats, spotify, etc

good for her, pray it away is one of my favourite songs this year so far

Wait :katie2:

I feel like if this was released as Have Mercy's follow-up for Spring 2022, her debut era would have actually slayed

Lmao she’s been signed to Beyoncé’s label under Columbia/Sony since 2014. She released two albums in the last 5 years as a duo with her sister and has been pursuing a solo career since 2021.

my thought EXACTLY. this would've been a great follow up

So far I don’t like this. This reminds me of a Ciara song and not in a good way. You know how Ciara will release a trash uptempo song that gets left off the album where her better songs are.

hopefully I like it in full or in the context of the album. But this is the first Chloe song I’m not feeling

this is literally the best song of her's we've heard so far...should've been have mercy's follow up

i know she is in a group with her sister, but don’t act like she’s not a struggling solo artist right now nnnnn

two years is a longish time to push a debut album for someone with an established fan base and with a name that should be known by now lol i am rooting for her though

makes sense now i guess, i knew beyoncé has co-signed them but i didn’t realise that she had actually signed them to a label. good for them. they both actually sound a lot like beyoncé imo

yeah. beyonce has her own imprint (Parkwood) under columbia. She originally had 2 other artists as well who all released EPs the same time Chloe x Halle's first came out, but she only kept CxH.

i think the fact that they take inspo from bey works for and against them. obviously beyoncé is good at managing herself and will get them great performance slots and promo deals (which is why we see chloe everywhere despite her not having a hit) but i think music-wise it's almost working against Chloe. she needs something that sets her apart from Beyoncé as a solo artist and i don't think she's quite hit that stride yet. Halle is in her own lane with the acting right now, so no one is really worried about her. But this new song is promising though because it has more of a Ciara vibe, meaning she's still trying new sounds. I just hope she finds something uniquely her.

I certainly think CxH 3 should've come out first before they did any solo work because they had such a unique vibe, but I do like that B lets them be free artistically, because we know her dad ran her world with an iron fist and that made her miserable.

oh now that you say that, i do recall someone called boots being beyoncé protege in the past, around the time of self titled? who was the other artist? i can’t see any info on parkwood wiki about it

i actually don’t hear too much comparisons to beyoncé aside from their vocals and vocal delivery (the first “f*** n**** f*** n**** f*** n****“ part in pray it away sounds just like beyoncé). beyoncé tends to release cohesive concept style albums tapping into specific sounds where as chloe’s solo stuff thus far has been more straightforward. (generic tbh but no disrespect, that’s what it takes to find a sound and establish an audience)

i agree about CXH3 being released first. it could be argued that neither of them are big enough outside of stan twitter and their viral hits (do it, have mercy) to smoothly launch into a solo career yet. with that being said i am european so i don’t hear us radio etc

it is great that she’s giving them artistic freedom, do they write their music? like actually write it not beyoncé write it…

i’ve had pray it away on repeat since it dropped it’s such a beautifully crafted song - on my soty list so far

the b00ts relationship fell apart unfortunately, he got too big for his britches and said he wanted to make songs with "real" artists and hasn't done anything since :rip:

her other two artists were Sophie Beem and INGRID. She met Ingrid in the writing sessions for Lemonade, where she (ingrid) wrote Love Drought.

and yes, Chloe and Halle write (and self-produce) a lot of their own work. I believe their first album was completely self-produced.

Chloe's versatility as a producer is rarely showcased these days and it's truly something I think she should lean into tbh:

oh WOW how am I just hearing this, this SLAPS.

It sounds like Treat Me 2.0 except way better. She should push this.

Not feeling this maybe the whole song will connect better.

Beyoncé does invest in her when it comes to deals, she has some deals that newbies will dream of. Yet the whole music side is so lacklustre.
