Communion Posted February 17, 2023 Posted February 17, 2023 Shame on Joe Biden and Pete Buttigieg for not reinstating the regulations that Trump undid. This is what the ratchet effect means. We get taken so far to the right and we view it as "progress" to move so many steps back left, despite being further from where we started.
ClashAndBurn Posted February 17, 2023 Posted February 17, 2023 No one disputes Trump's involvement, but glad to see you're openly covering for Joe Biden and Pete Buttigieg, who've been in charge for TWO YEARS and could have reinstated the regulations. Not only did they choose not to, they decided to stick up for Norfolk Southern and other rail companies and bust their workers' union efforts to strike to bring attention to the fact that they're overworked, understaffed, and forced to labor in unsafe conditions with no sick leave.

Biden and Pete are doing absolutely nothing.
Vermillion Posted February 17, 2023 Posted February 17, 2023 I'm not a mod but I'd argue this should be merged to the other thread but whatever. Anyways... Cynically, what is to Pete's benefit is the public's confusion over what regulations he can put back in place from the Trump era, over Congress' objections AND that won't just be tried and struck down in the courts. But the argument could also be made that renders that all moot that the DOJ is siding with Norfolk Southern here. Everyone's hands are dirty. Who's being protected vs. the maligned/gaslit/ignored citizens in this whole process has been really...terrifying. What's surprised me in all of this honestly has been Bernie, who struck me as someone that even if he used to know there was a strong likelihood his efforts would be defeated at SCOTUS or the state circuit courts (if it even got out of committee) would still at least try. Now he seems to be in his **** it era with his half-hearted Pete defense. As to why I don't have the energy to unpack.
Vroom Vroom Posted February 17, 2023 Posted February 17, 2023 It is everyone’s fault. You can literally blame everyone in government from state to federal. The infrastructure law will replace old rails and will help to decrease the chance of this happening in the future.

He made it its own thread because he knows people largely only look at headlines/thread titles, etc. and is solely trying to defend Biden/make Trump look bad when he hasn't been in office for over two years now.

I love when people link to their own twitter accounts (?) when trying to make a point like as though they know that linking to 3rd-party sources "looks" credible but don't get why people do so to begin with. That one user who said they happily fired their employees who were sick with COVID doing the same thing.
liver Posted February 17, 2023 Posted February 17, 2023 yeah headlines like this are gonna get trump re-elected in 2 years
