Taylor fanboy Posted February 18, 2023 Posted February 18, 2023 Katy feuded with Gaga and Taylor. Big bases. Rihanna has been cool with everyone, and picks her battles.

Rihanna’s big “feuds” were what… Ciara and Karrueche Tran Rihanna has always been adored within the industry by her peers and contemporaries, and especially all the next generation of pop girls who came up after her
modeblock Posted February 18, 2023 Posted February 18, 2023 idk but katy is in her fat nasty and broke era (musically), i hope she comes on this ***** mad as hell for Kp6

Rihanna would be so much less in demand if her last album was either a forgettable, generic chart chasing album or just not good. One evolved as an artist in their 30s, the other didn't.
Bimbo Posted February 18, 2023 Posted February 18, 2023 Not only was Rihanna never the embodiment of cringe, she also never got too cocky to the point of being shady towards her peers or legends. Poor the other girlie

Rihanna had multiple ballads and slower songs as hits and two albums with ballads as lead singles (Russian R and Diamonds followed by Stay), also Unfaithful, TAB, CKB and LOTB. Katy only has TOY, Wide Awake and Unconditionally - none of them lead and when she forced Uncon. with a big single treatment people didn't care. Rihanna could always experiment succeasfully with her image - hairstyle and haircolour, something which Katy never could, she is remembered with more or less the same style and signature look while Rihanna has multiple (short black, long brown, red hair) Rihanna has more versatile and edgy hits, not only pop (urban, RnB and hip-hop leaning songs too) I know this is very likely a typo but it is sending me OT: Comrade Rih was always the better artist even if they both weren't really strong on the albums department. ANTI just sealed the deal.
FightDragonsWithMe Posted February 18, 2023 Posted February 18, 2023 Katy wasn't creative enough to not be anything more than a product. Rihanna's corporate writing camp'd music at least sounds like her. Katy is a songwriter but she never really grew out of making basic Pop tunes for the masses, Rihanna also was smart enough to hire people to help tweak her image, while Katy went the karen/soccer mom route.

BGKC Posted February 18, 2023 Posted February 18, 2023 (edited) Rihanna is a trend setter. She’s edgy, unapologetic, relatable, and exotic. She just had IT. This is why she’s fashion icon. Katy was immature, ditzy and fun. It was cute when she was in her 20s, but it only got cringier as she aged. She never moved forward and evolved with her base who all ultimately grew up. She’s iconic af and I think she’s perfectly capable of making a solid comeback that’s still in tune with her alternative roots, but atp it’s a matter of people paying attention to her as a serious, more refined artist. When did Katy take such a risk with a lead single..

Poor the other girlie This is why I used to dislike Katy. She actually went extremely political on her rise ri the top, not only chart chasing but burying her other girls, BTS tactics, releasing on the same day. To add to my own thread: it reminded me she broke off more than she could chew with Taylor who put an end to her own team plan by dropping 1989 on Spotify same day as witness.

This is a valid discussion -we have got to 3 pages of civilness. Surely everyone and their mothers know Katy flopped and lost her GP appeal. In 2023 where is the shade? People are inputting good posts.

Anyway, Rihanna and Katy are both great artists and their discographies are more remembered than their peers that started at the same time !

At least she released One of the Boys, Teenage Dream, Prism…All great pop albums. What Rihanna album is memorable honestly? The only ones I listen to are Good Girl Gone Bad (only a few tracks) and Unapologetic This level of delusion should be studied. Rihanna managed to keep herself interesting in the eyes of the GP whilst building her base, the navy. Additionally to that, she's released perfect pop and R&B singles throughout her career and amazing bodies of work like Rated R, Loud, and Anti. Katy Perry did nothing of that sort.

You do the exact same thing with Xtina, what are you on pal? This ain't misogyny, it's just your normal and tired discussion on ATRL, it wouldn't still happen if y'all weren't so quick to respond, every, time.

Rihanna has never had a fiasco like the Witness era where Katy literally killed her brand and public image. Her reputation has been damaged beyond repair imo. And even if it hasn't, Smile was a piss poor attempt at rebuilding back her brand. If anything, it made it even worse with the dated early 2010s sound, stupid imagery and poor single choices. Rihanna's always maintained her cool factor and can still build and expand upon it. this. /thread

aesthetic bih Posted February 18, 2023 Posted February 18, 2023 Rihanna has this cool girl image that appeals to wide demographics Katy Perry is not exactly respected during her imperial years, so yeah... The moment her hits are gone, she has "no shield" against the critisms against her

The fact that her first three albums are pop perfection is the truth. Rihanna has the singles but her albums are terrible
