Ciara - "Da Girls"

I was in fear that this was going to sound dated, but it actually knocks? The verses are bit...Twitter lingo however.

The record is an improvement. This new branding and image for her music career doesn’t work though.

It’s clearly very inauthentic. The “girl from the streets” cosplay, as if she isn’t living in a multi-million dollar home with a mass of white friends is interesting. Poor Russell has been trying to keep up with it, but it comes off as even more inauthentic to him.

Lowkey tea. The "grown and sexy" vibe/sound would've worked and has worked previously for Ciara, but this type of R&B sound is what's in at the moment.

Summer Walker wouldn't have sounded out of place on this record.

Ugghhh I really want her to do more of a hiphop/Trap r&b or Sensual R&b that has a timeless sound. (with better songwriting)

But this women empowerment, black pride, Goodies/Gimme Dat Part 5 that she keeps trying to redo over and over is sooooooooo played.

These past few years the music she has been putting out have been pretty bland. It’s not that they aren’t good, but they are lacking more of her personality that we got from the first two albums and then the Ciara “self titled” album.
I don’t know why she or her team doesn’t see that.

I don’t want to judge too much until it’s officially out but this sounds like a song she’s done before .

In fact all the songs released so far feels like a greatest rehash of hits she’s done.

I have lost hope she will ever give us. Master piece. Self titled “Ciara” remains her best album .

With all of the backlash she received on twitter just from those little snippets, I'm worried she won't release this at all now.

lmao she's slowly getting there.

The tempo is good, I just can't help but agree with this tweet that said "we don't want no struggling single lady music from someone who has the LIFE" lol.

She gotta give us them body party/promises and give us something to slow wind these hips too. Her target audience doesn't need to be moving that quickly anyway. We are getting old.

i am tired of backlash from anything she ever is doing. people dont wanna see her enjoying herself, thats what it is.

if she got her heart broken or is in toxic relationship stans would be popping left and right

Agreed.

The backlash she’s receiving is ridiculous. How many songs do artist release that they never experience the situation etc…

Just because she’s happily married doesn’t mean she can’t sing about heartbreak :rip:

Hmm I kind of like the snippet! This is some classic Ciara and I could see it doing a little something.

It’s funny because she released this about her husband yet it was paid dust. Twitter is soo annoying! Let her release what she wants!

No but this song was everything, and remains a staple in her career. A QUALITY pop track penned by Ester Dean. :alexz:

I’m not too excited for this track tbh, but I’m looking forward to hearing the full.

She should also just announce the album ffs, “Fantasy Ride”, “Basic Instinct”, “OWA”/“Ciara”, “Beauty Marks”, and now this one have all had long drawn-out releases.

This deserved to smash. Just completely mishandled by her team. They need to reintroduce her to pop formats and audiences and should have used her husband’s hype (when he had it) to make that push into middle America pop radio stations.

I'm just glad it charted in the top 40 on pop radio and I actually got to hear it 3-4 times.
