LOVE the melody/beat. Wish the lyrics were different but I’m perched

The record is an improvement. This new branding and image for her music career doesn’t work though.

It’s clearly very inauthentic. The “girl from the streets” cosplay, as if she isn’t living in a multi-million dollar home with a mass of white friends is interesting. Poor Russell has been trying to keep up with it, but it comes off as even more inauthentic to him.

Yeah she needs to change it up

This sounds good but didn’t she tease another song back in Dec/Jan? What happened to that? It sounded good too.

Either way I’m here for her as always, I have loved her from the beginning I don’t get the hate.

What happened to the Big Freedia song?

Hmmm.

The girls have been asking for a slow jam with some knock. And I like that she's doing it and not doing the usual bedroom bop.

It's clear she's trying to rebrand with a project that is quite intentional with its empowering/upbeat lyrics and overall concept. Jump, Better Thangs, Winning, and now this. It's very clear.

Like some have said, it works in places and sounds corny in others.

The irony is it's more in line with who she is now. Positive, zen etc. But I still think it needs more...refinement.

Where's Ester Dean and the girls that can gift her some real cool hooks and help her map out better verses. The verses especially are what's been lacking since she went indie. She's working with Theron, who she's always worked with. But it seems there's something missing lyrically/sonically from her label-days.

Rooting for her, though.

This is all spot on with how I feel.

She desperately needs new writers working with her because these lyrics feel kinda bland, and there’s a disconnect somewhere along the line.

This clip doesn’t excite me 😕

OG Parker produced this btw.

I like the beat and the flow.. the lyrics a bit cringe.

yeah I don’t know. She is doing the street Ciara again and that didn’t work with Basic Instict.

i thought better things was good. We need sexy and sultry Ciara back

U dont know em? :skull:

they've been all over the internet

I think it's Astro Boy Boots or something :toofunny3:

Sonically, this sounds like “No Love” by Summer Walker but with a Ciara, feel good twist to it. I actually like this a lot. I wanna hear it in full.

I'm not excited for this at all. This era is definitely something.

This sounds much more promising than the Big freedia song though .

I liked the song a lot.:jonny6:

She's been always doing girl empowerment music, i dont get comments on 'rebranding'

Literally G IS FOR GIRL is sitting there, girls get your money, like a boy, goodies, im out, one woman army, girl gang, i love myself, level up ETC

how is cosplay 'streets' if you are raised 'streets'. just because she in a mansion now doesnt mean she has mansion heart and soul.

i only agree with comments she'd benefit from different set of songwriters.

Similar topics, but much better song writing. That’s where she’s falling flat for her last few projects.

writing/lyrics were never her strongest suit tbh.

She didn’t have lyrical masterpieces, but something about some of these new lyrics feel very basic, and beneath the quality she’s delivered in the past when working with other writers.

And yes, “I Bet” is a career highlight :smitten2:
