Bang Up Posted February 16, 2023 Posted February 16, 2023 Good on him for treating his mental health. Dems need to start finding a good replacement bc the GOP will try to put up Oz again and he could very well win lmao.
Wonderland Posted February 16, 2023 Posted February 16, 2023 Just to put things in perspective for everyone as someone who has a fair amount of work experience with stroke patients: this is not uncommon at all. ~50% of patients who suffer a stroke go on to experience depression within the first year. I'm just glad he reached out and is getting the support he needs.

Gui Blackout Posted February 16, 2023 Posted February 16, 2023 (edited) Glad he's finding help and I wish him well, but he needs to resign. The overwhelming health issues were already enough reason to do that. He's just not fit to keep doing this job, and everyone can see that. Refusing to face this reality won't be good for him, his family, and least of all his constituents. Edited February 16, 2023 by Gui Blackout

I know it can differ from state to state and Google says this: Pennsylvania holds special elections when someone in office can no longer serve. This may happen when someone resigns, dies, or gets removed from office. Voters must select someone to replace that person.

Maybe there’d be one in 2024 but Bob Casey will be on the ballot in 24 too, no Republican is beating him, certainly not carpetbagger Oz

Flanders Posted February 16, 2023 Posted February 16, 2023 This man is such a breath of fresh air in American politics. I wish him a speedy recovery. Hope he can get access to some successful treatments, do they do ketamine therapy in the US?

Especially not Conor Lamb, who was the chosen one the party leaders all got behind in the primary. That said, Oz being from New Jersey is ultimately a big part of what held him back. An actual Pennsylvanian would have had a better chance. One might point to Josh Shapiro as a highly electable candidate. Which... sure... but I believe his electability to be rather overstated due to the uh... nature of his opponent.
