What short Adele reign lol….

Adele was

#1. 21 — 2011
#1. 21 — 2012
#1. 25 — 2015
#2. 25 — 2016
#1. 30 — 2021

4 #1s with 3 albums over a decades span.

not as impressive but we're not here for that overshipped album that's nowhere to be found a year later despite a hit single! we're here for miss taylor '10 albums in 16 years in the game and still keeping up with hot artists of the year like olivia, bad bunny, the weeknd' swift!

Because Adele sells a lot in physicals, it's no secret 30 had a lot of (and too many) shipments, come on :skull:

Taylor was "beaten" by someone who released way earlier in the year and that had an amazing longevity, not sure how it's shameful, especially since she would probably be #1 with 2-4 extra weeks :rip:

Bad Bunny is most likely not releasing this year.

No one said it’s shameful.

Adele rereleased late November for both 25&30.

I was replying to someone calling her reign short.
You came in to dea refit her number ones but try an find excuses as to why Taylor’s albums were never on top.

It’s…

Taylor never was on top because of excessive shipements though. It was clearly 30's case and you can see that by the vinyl number alone.

Midnights is more successful than 30, that's what matters most at the end

That wasn’t the topic of discussion. Thanks for the input tho

What's the consensus on Chinese sales? Are they systemically deflated by IFPI or something? Because Midnights sold very well in China like her albums always do there, and if they snubbed Jay Chou, then much of the sales from China must be excluded altogether, no?

We don't know, but Jay Chou album not even being top 20 with his 7 million pure sales while being on the top 10 artists is very weird.

Didn’t midnights sell 1m vinyls in the US alone? 30s WW number was 900k like .. do you think she did not shop more than 1m WW? Just cause her numbers didn’t leak by the factory’s

Anyways I know you all are hellbent on 30 being a flop so I won’t entertain it anymore.
#1 in 2021 and that’s that on that

Fearless:

2008: #18

2009: #4

1989:

2014: #2

2015: #3

Midnight:

2022: #2

2023: I can seeing it being within top 5, top 3 if she releases more single, and challenge for #1 if she releases 3AM physical/vinyl with Hits Different

Can’t really imagine why anyone would try to shade Midnights being at #2 while using 30 as the point of reference. It’s obvious Midnights moved a lot more units being at #2 than 30 did at #1 last year (even counting all the unsold shipments), considering every available source tells us Midnights has already sold more overall than 30 :rip:

I mean maybe it sucks that she is #2, but it just comes down to competition at the end of the day. Bad Bunny would’ve been #1 last year as well :coffee2:

Why is RENAISSANCE this low? :biblio:

Is it the pure sales chart?

The bigger picture is that Taylor has been Top 5 for nearly 15 years across TEN albums, others start floundering on their 2nd, 3rd or even 4th era while Taylor is repeaking on her 10th album :wanda:

These are the best-selling digital albums of all time in China. Chou is clearly leading, so IFPI's clowning hard.

ETA: Taylor being the only Western artist on here is such a slay. :gaylorcat2: She should visit them on the Eras Tour.

And a lot of her albums made it two years in a row, sometimes being higher in its first full year than in the year of release where it had only two months :giraffe:

Obviously something that’s not guaranteed, as you can see with the 2021 #1 being out of the top 20 this year. Sadly she’s always been very unlucky since her blockbusters all came at the end of the year. Hopefully Midnights is top 5 again for 2023, which should be all but guaranteed.

30 had 862k reported by the IFPI in 2022... while not selling half of that in US/UK/France (364k).

No it's SPS

The Chinese guy was snubbed here but he made the Artists chart thanks to his album shipments?  :skull:

It doesn't make any sense  :dies:

Surprised at Bad Bunny being #1 despite of his poor pure sales

Posted

The artist list makes no sense.

Jay Chou top 10 there but out of albums is completely baseless. Then we have NBA Youngboy top 20 there which on paper you would think makes sense because he was #3 in the US, but when you realize 80% of his US streams are from YouTube and he doesn’t even rank in the top 50 on Global YouTube in addition to being completely OUT on Spotify…

IFPI will never be legitimate as long as they continue to just go off label reported numbers and do very little audits.

Even though kpop boy groups are only known by their fandoms they place high on these lists because they weigh physicals more heavily than any other format. Theirs a few of them above her that nobody, not even ppl in korea, are playing :lmao:
